  1. Finally got the car through the mot (cheers andy duff for advising on turning the afc down to get through spot on it worked!!! cheers) took it to the rollers to to get remaped after playing with the afc. This is where the problem started 1. When we tried to boost up the car over 12 psi the car wouldnt hold boost and was jumping up and down 1 psi but was fine up to 9-10 psi so i got the guy set it at stock boost which i believe is 7 psi it made 324 fwbhp at this settingi dont quite no how ??? and made 377 @ 12.7 psi 5500 rpm where the guy lifted off because of this psi jump . It has bigger turbos and possibly injectors (because at 12 psi the afc had loads more to go ).How did it make such high bhp at stock boost ??? Do the larger turbos make that much difference ??? Also what could be the problems associated with this psi jump ??? 2. On the last run one of the cooloant hoses gave out one of the ones at the front of the engine that go between the cam covers.Now im worried ive blown a head gasket the car didnt over heat ive heard of pipes bursting before and its resulted in a hg problems how will i know if it is a head gasket what test is there i can do ??? regards jim
  2. jsut to add when the car was set up on the rolling road there was an egr problem (it was leaking) and the exhaust was also leaking on the flange from the turbo to the downpipe this has been fixed but was set up when it wasnt fixed so would this make a difference on the emisions now ???

  5. mate im a bit green all i know is it is a apexi safc i dont no what model it is . It has 5 or 6 nobs to adjust the fuel at the different rev ranges do you think this is the cause of the problem ???

  7. The car is at a garge at the moment they took it to get mot , its still up there where they are trying to eliminate the problem . They have had to car for 5 months sorting out an engine misfire and done some work on the egr , in this time the ticket has run out . They subsequintly took it for a ticket and it has failed , i phoned the guy today and he said the reading was 5.2 % he said it might just be where the car has just been sitting for a while or a coolant temparature sensor i dont know how that makes a difference , im just worried that its going to be something expensive like sticking valves or something ?? Also the guy said the turbos on the car were larger than stock and it runs true because i notest more than normal turbo lag since i bought the car i have only done about 1000 miles since i had the car , i had rolling roaded about 500 miles ago and it was kicking out 385 bhp at 13.5psi anyone got any i idea what these blowers on my car could be????

  9. my zed failed its ticket on fumes could this be down to the afc set up to run 14psi see my theory is this - its set up to run 14psi but obviously when you rev the engine without load no boost is being used so at 5000rpm theres no boost but its putting in 14psi worth of juice which is big over fueling so would this cause it to fail on fumes ??? advice please if this couldnt be causing what other possibilities should i look at ??? regards jim
  10. hey people im going to sell my zed in the near future what would people suggest the asking price should be ??? i need to sell quick because my missus is pregnant and i need some dosh quick im probably going to sell on ebay so it goes quick . Here is the spec 1993 tt import manual pearl essence white aftermarket front bumper aftermarket rear bumper side skirts de-spoilered ame 3 piece split rims 17" wider rears 2 nearly new continental sports on the rear 255 40 michellin sports on the front 235 40 uprated shocks and springs all round (very hard ride) hks super drager exhaust hks fmic with all ss hardpipes hybrid turbos hks evc 3 boost control safc fuel control all set up by sanspeed superchips running 385.8 bhp at 0.95bar with dyno sheet to validate 1 years mot What would be a resonable asking price for this chaps ??? D2 are fine to use mate i know them very well darren is the main guy that works on zeds he is pukka done lots of work for me on my zed infact its up there now had some serious electrical faults which he has rectefied and is sorting out a leaky egr for me i never had no probs at all with these guys very competant knowledgeable about zeds and resonably priced to

Look at it this way mate because it makes sense 300zxtt, soarer , gto ect were designed to do 150000 mile plus running around 280-300 bhp in the zx and gto case not sure what bhp soarer ie is but running a 100 bhp more on a stock engine is asking for trouble !!! 150000 miles might be reduced to 15000 or less !! depending on the condition of the engine i know what dilema you are in mate you want high power for little money unfortunately high power usually = big money the best advice i can give is take your time and find a zx that has had the money spent on it running 500bhp rebuilt engine by a reliable garage big blowers ect not to high mileage on engine and generally make sure its pukka 6500 to 7 bags of sand should get you something quite sproosy !! good luck !
  13. just out of curriosity what would the performance of a tt zed be if its running 385bhp at the fly at an estimate ???0-60 ???? Top speed ???
  14. cheers for the update mate maybe when you change the pump it might sort it maybe its knackered by trying to push fuel through that filter for some time keep pluging away mate you'll get there if you needed a number for a good garage let me know good luck !!!

  16. no worries mate as soon as they sort the problem i let you know what it was im going on holiday next week and im leaving the car with them i so they should have solved it by the time i get back ill put a post up f.a.o of jase m so keep your eyes open in about three weeks if you aint solved the problem by then and vice versa if you solve it before i post you could you leave a post for me mate ??
  17. carl im going to try your damper theory before changing the pump see what happens the car is at a garage at the moment i thought id let a specialist look at it as im getting very impatient and they are adament its the spark breaking down at some point but im not so sure now your talking about this fuel shortage matter i think maybe thats the avenue to go down now i mean the ptu is fine sparkers are new coil packs have been changed injector connections cleaned i think it must be something to do with the fuel ill phone them tommorow and get them to have a look
  18. i dont know about with the air con on mate because ive taken all that out to save weight i see what your saying about lack of fuel pressure when i had i dynoed the bloke said he thought the fuel pump might be a bit lazy because he had to turn the last 2 knobs on the afc right up to run 0.95 bar he said it was leaning off towards the top end but was safe .But although saying that the pump would have to be proper shot to cause it to do this if that is the reason ,surely you would get detting or something if the pressure was a bit low ??? I think what i might do is get an uprated fuel pump i mean if mine aint knackered its getting lazy so it wont do know harm and go from there i think its a bloody pain in the arse though !!!!
  19. also the egr or manifold is slightly leaking a slight exhaust tap noise could this exhaust leak be causing the problem ???

I havnt had a butchers at the car yet because its at my yard at work but the plugs are rulled out and fuel filter are both good and have been checked and also if i had a boost leak would i not be able to hear it last time a pipe come off the intercooler there was f++k all power and when you booted it ,it sounded like a little get engine (heavy whistling)

My zed well this is the problem driving along boot it gets to 4000rpm boost kicks in heavy hesitation/missfire goes past this all the to 7000rpm change gear rapid ,foot down no power revs dropping foot off the accelerator fires back up tap the throttle fine as soon as you boot it the same thing happens again when you change gear it dies again with your foot down take foot of fires up accelerate gently no probs only occurs when you load up the engine . here is the spec 93 tt import apex afc hks evc 3 hks fmic running 385 bhp at flywheel at 0.95 bar rolling roaded to weeks ago at sanspeed in bexleyheath evc and afc set up correctly . here are the other problems possible slight leak at egr possible manifold leak only slight though . Here is what i have done so far cleaned up ptu connections, changed coilpacks cleaned up injector connections and cleaned up temparture sensor connections stiil got the same problem . Sorry for the long thread but i thought id give you as much history as possible so you know what im dealing with suggestions on this would be much appreciated jim
  23. can someone tell me what these are all about ??? will they work on a stock engine ??? i seen these on ebay thinking about buying them but im sure i see these on this forum last year and a little bird told me that basically they were f$$$ked and the bloke couldnt get them to work properly does anyone know if these are the same ones ????

  25. well i aint pullin it out mate i cant even pull my finger out lol ! i get someone who knows what they are doing to do it ive been quoted 700 quid for this . Cheap init lol !! oh well i get that done and see what happens anyone know any good garages in kent ???? Dont want to be travelling half way round the world to be getting work done
