1st Road test and a happy owner
Hey all I finally got my plates last week and due to work commitments only managed to drive the car properley this weekend, so what do I think. Well I have owned some fast cars in my life. 400HP MR2 Turbo and 450HP R32 GTR are the quickest and the 300zx is roughly 320HP so I am told. When I climbed into the Z the snail like feel of the cabin cacooning itself around me makes me think I am in something special. All buttons, switches are neatly presented with ease of access and I am sitting surprisingly low. Buddy Club coilovers make it feel like a go kart. I start her up and the noise makes me grin, the rumble is addictive, unfortunatley for my neighbours. I begin my journey to the motorway and the car feels great on the road. For such a big car it has the same characteristics as my old MR2, a point and squirt car which will happily go where I want it to. Onto the slip road of the motorway and I plant my foot. Brutal is the only word I can describe this cars acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear. Instant power that never lets go. I am easily doing licence losing speeds but my grin and the noise eggs me on. Its not as fast as my old cars but its an absolute joy to drive. The cars is not without fault but after 6 years of not having a Jap car its good to be back!!! I want to get some niggly paintwork issue sorted and its going to RB Motorsport this week for some love but the 300ZX is an awesome machine, which is very under-rated!!!!

bloody thieves!
As Alan Partridge says, "Scum, sub-human scum."
-
Goodness Me !!
The car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I would not pay 40k for an A500 Cosworth but I can understand why someone would. I can't see someone shelling out 10 for a 300zx but I have been wrong before.

What did you do to your zed today?
New air filters as old ones were so dirty and brittle. It's going for a service next week. Then the boot, bumper and bonnet are getting painted, and finally off to RB Motorsports when it gets back for a Remap. Canny wait.

Blocked vacuum pipes.
I have a boost gauge already so maybe a boost controller. Will have to get one as car doesn't have one. Which is strange considering the mods. But there are two little holes in dash where one could have been. Thanks

Blocked vacuum pipes.
Hey guys. The below photos show blocked vacuum pipes in my engine bay. Also the afm connecter has been disconnected at the filters. There is no manual boost controller anywhere in the car. The pipe with the red stopper in the end is the same on both sides. What's your thoughts, remapped ECU? Car is not registered yet so not driven properly to check boosting levels.

Car hopefully back on the road tomorrow - MOT looming!
Excited indeed. What year is the beast?

soft brake pedal after bleeding
If the pedal goes to the floor with no effortthen you have not bled them properly. It's always a good idea to have two people bleeding brakes. One in the car on the brake pedal the other at the nipple. As said though new brakes do feel spongy to begin with.

Registering an import with 0 paperwork
Plus what you need for registering is De registration docs MOT Monies for road tax insurance on chassis number Registration fee Ta

Registering an import with 0 paperwork
You cannot register an import without the De registration docs. Personally if the seller doesn't have them then that's why he is selling. It's impossible to get duplicate unless you know the original seller in Japan, then you might stand a chance of getting another but not a guarantee. I would like to see the website where you can get duplicate from, can you link? Ta

Lots of R and S bodies... but I just bought a Z32 by accident!

Will call them. Thanks

Insurance
Ok I have spoken with Adrian Flux again and they price at $595.00 and this is why 1. The car is an import and not already registered in the UK 2. This is my first year on the policy 3. The car cannot go on classic because its not 20 years old but can go on modern classis with 3000 lim milage I have not put the missus on the policy so will see if that helps bring the price down. Thanks again
-
Insurance
Thanks guys. I thought my car couldn't go on classis with it being a 1997 (not 20 years old). Or am I wrong? Will try some others thanks. And yes SDP only 3-5ka year max

Insurance
Hi everyone. Just trying to get competitive quotes together. The car is a 1997 import tt and the cheapest quote I have had so far is £500 ota. I tried AFlux and they quoted £3740 which is ridiculas considering I am 32 have 9 yeara ncb and only drive it 3k a year!! Who do you use and how much do you pay?
-
exhaust sounds
I agree. I am 32 now and I dont mind loud cars but if I am just out for a drive with the missus I want to be able to talk to her in the car!

sad day.
I know how you feel. I went through the same in 2008. Had Jap cars for 8 years, got a new house with bigger mortgage and the GTR had to go. I still remember the day, the sound of my car being driven off. I felt like rubbish, really bored without a performance car!! Everytime I saw a fast car I pined for anything, but nothing compares to a Jap performance motor!! Everyone except my family told me to keep it. I sold it in 2008 for 7000.00 an absolute bargain. Today the car would be worth a lot more!!!! I wish I woild have kept it locked up in my dads garage and just paid fire and theft on it.......gosh I am getting side tracked here!!! Point is you will miss it loads but you will get another in the future! Sorry for going slightly offtrack.
