  1. was under the impression that most laptops would send the signal to which ever screen it used on last shut down.
  2. all i need to do now is find a decnet laptop with a dead screen and buy it cheap lol
  3. what about shutting down the machine? Just tryign to find some cheap laptops on ebay with broken screens, not any of a spec i want at the moment, but this seems a way to go to get a carputer for around £200
  4. http://users.skynet.be/media-car/software.html Try this mate too
  5. Just wondering how difficult it would be to convert an old laptop into a carputer? Powering it shouldnt be too difficult as there seem to be plenty of invertors around, but how would you get the machine to auto start with ignition on? Also what about shut down? Any other issues that could be thought off? (Guessing a decent spec P3 (plus 256 / 512mb should boot quick to Windows ME)
  6. mate there are plenty of other front end apps like centrafuse that should work fully and are available for free. They also have documents and help files to help so might be worth trying one of those, media car or media engine are pretty good
  7. looks good mate, be interested to learn what datascan can do fully, plus how to tweak jwt chips etc
  8. Its purly an emissions thing to get the engine through emission testing, but its not that effective which is why nissan took it off later models. Im led to believe its pretty difficult to by pass in-situ so no point really
  9. centrafuse loks good, but the system requirements are lots higher than most other carputer front ends. Also it requires xp which is really slow to boot up, personnaly i think windows me is better suited as you can get it to boot to a front end in about 10-20 seconds from ignition on with todays p3/p4 laptops.
  10. same here, seems very intermitant though
  11. looks easy then, seems best way for a cheap carputer to be honest. Just get a cheap laptop off ebay and a touchscreen plus invertor.
  12. Now that ive got my datascan up and running, im looking at ways to power my laptop whilst its in my car.. Is there some kind of generic invertors or something? Suggestions really folks
  13. So as my idle at the moment is steady about 800 pm guessing i dont need to mess with this much?
  14. Sounds great PK, definatly would be handy for us subscribbed members. the software looks like it has a reasonable amount of stuff that without a guide il never use.
  15. Will this make much difference to the performance of the engine? Or is it just nice to do if you get the chance? Can the idle control valve be got at in situ?
  16. Just so i know what im paying is it £10 for both days or £10 per day (plus the £10 to camp?)

  18. never thought of it like that dan. All seems common sense what your saying and wouldnt have thought it would wind anyone up
  19. anyone heard of nirvana? lol
  20. understand, i think it would be good if we get a datascan area set up then people can swap the traces they take and have a look at what other peoples zed are like during runs. Shoudl be pretty revealing as to whats going on
  21. kamikaze, my o2 sensors do the same until wide open throttle (opr near it ) then they stabilise at a high reading, assuming that is kind of normal for them as they are supposed to move quickly
  22. what sort of ticket price is it for the weekend?
  23. definatly, as the questions only going to increase! Maybe have a dataloged section in there as well, be interested to see some other peoples traces, and also to get some advice on how mine look
