The R24 regas tubes will not connect onto the R12 connecters, if he didnt fit a set of adaptors then you must of had some already fitted.

To recharge the 300zx R12 a/c system with the newer R24 gas, needs adaptor fitting to the charging points. If your system was recharged with the R24 gas you must have had these adaptors fitted. HTH

You will get a better idea of where the leak is from if you can get under the car with the engine running and the steering held on full lock, the PAS is at its greatest presure on full lock (left or right). HTH
