Thanks guys looks like I'll have to take the w***er to court then. No new parts have been added yet apart from my refurbed tubs he was about to fit. I'm so wounded by all this hassle...all I wanted was one of these powerful beauties on my driveway! All further advice is gratefully received. Thanks Rob...still :cry:

I'm not sure how many of you know about the zed that I bought last October but here goes anyway. I bought my car from a trader in Bedford on an 93' plate with 53000 miles (when converted). The car began to cause me problems on the way back home so i got back and made enquiries as to what it could be. After some research it was established that the tubs had gone....great. I then requested the money back from the trader which he refused. Actually he refused to help at all saying he knew his rights. Deciding I needed to take things further I had the car fully inspected by Jeff at Zedworld. We discovered problems with the suspension and HICAS that would have constituted an MOT failure....and it was sold with MOT! As the work wasn't too expensive and I am definately naive with regards to legal matters I endeavoured to get the work done privately and pay myself. Today.....Mark from turbosport calls me (he was in the process of putting my new tubs on) and says that there is no compression in one side of the engine ie. piston damage, cracks and possible melting! He is going to take the head off and but reckons between £800 and £2000 is realistic just for the rebuild then the turbos will be on top £1500...then I have to pay Jeff for the suspension work......... Basically I will end up paying nearly £9000 for this car....HELP! I really really wanted a Zed and thought I'd made the right choice with this car. I have driven approximately 250miles in it. So...in tears as I will be shortly do I... Pay for the repairs Proceed legally (I have a reciept for the car and Jeffs reports) Scrap the car :x: Sorry to drone on I'm just so gutted it hurts. Will be looking to get the inside of the Zed re-upholstered when I finally get her back next week. I'm planning on getting the full job including glove box gear and handbrake gaiter doorcards and seats..even the gearstick. Anybody know who does this well and at a reasonable cost? Cheers Rob PS. Yes, my engine was well fooked!!! i judged the car on looks and speed alone....which was daft!! Wish I'd known about this forum before I bought! Your insurance might be cheap because of the area you live in don't forget! My car is insured in god forsaken Brum!! Rob

Actually I bought the car in October and it wont be ready until 20th of Feb...Its done more miles on a trailer than on the road!!! :cry: I've had only 250 miles of pleasure in it!!! ANYWAY THE POINT IS...GET A PROFFESIONAL FROM THIS FORUM TO LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Rob

Hello Mate, I'm no expert to be honest as I ended up buying a car that needed a fair bit of work....however due to this I can advise on some pitfalls!!!! When I was looking for a zed I noticed that a lot of the UK cars were quite rusty under the sills and indeed was advised by Jeff at zedworld that when he was about to start working on some of these UK cars he had to inform the poor owner that it wasn't worth it due to the amount of corrosion!!! I think that the situation is that all UK cars are turbos you can only get an N/A as an import. With regards to insurance my car is a 93' import twin turbo and I got classic limited mileage insurance for only £475 and I'm only in my mid twenties. My main advice and please heed this is to get the car looked at by someone who knows the zed. My car was lovely to look at but has just cost me another £2500 to get it roadworthy :headvswal Hope this helps a bit however I'm sure the other members will give you better advice as I'm just learning!!!! Well whatever the mods were they blew up my car!!! No, on a serious note it was in 300kph then the guy I bought it off converted it to mph and just stuck an mph sticker over the kph sign!! Need to replace with 180mph dials and wondered how hard it is to do. Cheers Rob

Just wondered what I can do....if anything about my speedometer. When I bought the car it was 300kph now its been changed to mph but still goes up to 300mph so looks daft! Also I want a glo gauge kit and I understand these go up to 180mph. Any suggestions on how to get it sorted and of course how much it will cost Thanks Rob

Thanks for the welcome!!!! I'll be at as many meets as possible all over the country after the 20th of feb which is the golden day my zed returns to me with new tubs and suspension. Incidentally that will be the second time i'VE EVER DRIVEN IT! Lousy dodgy traders and mot stations who can you trust eh?!!! Rob

Mines an '02 plate MG ZR in black lowered on 18s, tinted windows, filter, exhaust, sounds...you get the picture....can't wait to get the zed fixed!!

This all sounds too familiar!!!!! Jeffs right i would definately get expert advice next time as my £4k car is now costing me nearer £6k!!! bad luck mate...worse things have happened though! :(
