I'm doing this this weekend. Is it correct to have the engine running with the CAS loose??? Is it quite stiff to turn, as wouldnt want it moving around with the engine running??? Mines at 17 degrees so retarding it to 15

Yep, its the tension rod bushes that creak, tends to stop when they warm up. If they are standard UK start saving for some adjustables. Or a 3 piece polybush for the standard arm

Update, Have Fitted new shiny blue intake boost hoses and re-done the boost controller pipework. One of the hoses wasn't exactly perfect, so thats sorted. Fitted the new elec fan (what an arse that was!!!!) moved the sender for the EBC to the other end of the balance bar so theres a single pipe between the fuel regulator and the balance bar. Spark plugs and timing this weekend.
