  1. You're the one that's dreading rebuilding it!
  2. Maybe you should change your driving style!
  3. Don't preempt it then! LOL
  4. Right, winter project may start soon. Leather re-trim which I am hopefully gonna order before xmas from either http://www.importsextreme.com or http://www.leatherseats.com in the US. Quality being outstanding with all seams being double stitched as opposed to many kits you can get over here that have simple overlap stitching. Going for charcoal bolsters with dove grey centres and dove grey stitching on the black. Ordering also a complete hide which I will take to krytch trimmers in Bristol who will cut and stitch all leading edges rather than a simple glue-on job. I am considering flocking the dash binnacle with the dove grey leather too, but not sure yet. Depends if there's much hide left after doing both door cards, centre console, under dash and rear quarters. ANYWAY, I am going to strip out all the interior sometime within the next few months, will be waxoiling box sections, inner arch seams and door bottoms as well as adding copious amounts of sound deadening in the tinny doors. Just wondering, whilst everything is out, what else is advisable of as being worthy of replacing. Ideally I'd like to get the 99-spec switch gear for the doors. Might have sourced a series II passenger seat as well as I am not going waste my time trimming a manual seat.
  5. Don't you get a text package with that?
  6. No, unless you're going to actually drive it and run it up to operating temperature for a decent amount of time then no. You'll cause more problems, ie, just leaving a car idling from cold is far worse than just getting in and driving it. Not just that, but running it for short periods of time will cause condensation and will result in mayonnaise build up in the oil. You don't want to be introducing water to the oil and cold starts do this. Without burning it off it just stays in the engine.
  7. Have you driven the facelift Vectra C then? Huge improvement over the pre-facelift version with revised suspension and brakes. Mine's a 55 plate and I didn't think I'd ever say it, but I am impressed. It rides as well as my mate's new VW Passat 1.9 Sport.
  8. Yeah agreed. Motorway cruising is very good in it too. In 6th gear with the CC on it's a silky smooth ride. 2,000rpm @ 70. :)
  9. ^^^ I have one of those. Must say, whilst it's not the most attractive car, the 1.9 CDTi is a great car. 6 speed box and cruise control. Same engine/chassis as the Saab 93 SRi with the X-pack kit on looks quite sweet too.
  10. Boot space in the 1 series is very poor iirc.
  11. Sub 5 if you're good and have a decent clutch. 4.8 4.9?
  12. Possibly theeee ugliest BMW ever made though.
  13. ....if you want something with some size, then the MK5 Astra CDTi SRi estate.
  14. Thurlby Astra 888 CDti A 200bhp 1.9 turb diesel with race suspension, sports seats etc. Possibly the best small diesel hatchback. Very rare though. Was built in small numbers by 888, the guys that prepare the Astras for the BTCC. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/203619/thurlby_888_astra_cdti.html
  15. Pablo mate, get a better camera! Subscribe too, that way you can have those images in your signature instead of copy/pasting them in everything you post. ;)
  16. Smooth does look good in SWB. But it also makes it look like an N/A. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing though.
  17. I dunno, you might have seen these before. Made me laugh, though 2nd is accused of being a fake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9mP362z6C0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQdT9_j653o
  18. I know you were Brian and I was doing the same back ;)
  19. Makes no odds as to how high it is. It's down to the design of the sweep angle and since this is a copy of a tried and tested Nissan part (reads: original mould taken), I expect it's probably had more aerodynamic R&D than 90% of aftermarket ones. ;) Infact I'd hazard a guess in saying the 99-spec was one of the most efficient at creating downforce. The sweep area and width of the wing is about 20% greater than many of these high level spoilers with a limited sweep angle and narrow guage. :)
  20. Exactly, pram handle spoilers just don't suit the Zs gradual sleek curve as well. The 99-spec is subtle and inoffensive. Spoilers that I actually do like. M30Z, 99-spec, Kaminari and OEM turbo....I do like the series 3 ones too and quite like the viper spoiler....I think it's called that (dipone had one on his)
  21. Nope, I have Advan Siena Generation II, the above are BBS RGR
  22. The pearl yellow one does look nice. That one started life totally standard. Looks really sweet now and has a nice balanced look to it with the kit and BBS rims.
