  1. I just got the fronts done and the tyre fitter says he prefers the Goodyear Eagle F1 to the PZero. I was really impressed with the PZero, especially giving the car quite a thrashing through the Gorge de l'ardeche in southern France a few years ago. I found them extremely grippy and pushed the car really quite hard. Joel has the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 and he has been happy with those. I have the Asymmetric 3, which are supposed to be marginally grippier, so looking forward to seeing how they behave.
  2. I scraped the foam off, but had to use a bit of brake cleaner on a microfibre towel to remove the fine residue as scraping was clearly not going to shift it.
  3. The insides of my wheels I try to keep clean. Unfortunately whenever I get tyres changed, I'm left with unsightly residue/sticky stuff. What's the best stuff to dissolve all this? I know there are plenty of products on the market, but there's often a small foam backing on these weights which also sticks firm and a lot of the residue removers can't penetrate this. Would brake cleaner be good? The wheel insides will be cleaned and waxed after.
  4. Brand new set of Goodyear Eagle F1s arrived today! It's like Christmas today!
  5. Hahahahah! Brilliant!
  6. I hope so too! It should do as it's mostly a hot start issue which points to a starter motor. Still waiting on quite a number of other new parts to come from Japan (genuine). It needed to be replaced anyway, so even if the issue is still there it's still money well spent.
  7. A brand new genuine starter motor is such a beautiful and welcome thing! I'm sure this little baby will do another 27 years! Another 8 week wait, but worth it to fit quality genuine components.
  8. Photobucket is dead. For anyone using it, dump all your photos before you have to subscribe. Subscriptions are something stupid like $300 a year. To be honest, I quit using photobucket a year or so ago after it ground to a halt with all the pop ups and adds. I couldn't get past my second page of photos. It is now a completely useless website.
  9. We do need the rain! I was glad for it, my grass (which is soon to be ripped out anyway) was/is looking a little parched!
  10. This is Glastonbury where I live. Most know it for the infamous yearly music festival. It is however a very small ancient town in rural Somerset dating back some 6,000 years and is steeped in myth and legend. We had a visit from Thor last night to our ancient Isle of Avalon and someone snapped these awesome photos of the lightening beating down on Glastonbury Tor.
  11. If it's been installed by D2 of Stood as per the original thread, then it's likely to have been fitted to a very good standard. Darren @ D2 was a Nissan Master Mechanic and had full Nissan training on the 300ZX and is highly skilled from what I know The rest though about the inconsistencies in the information and the general design of what has been fitted leaves a lot to be desired
  12. Not sure they're available anymore? Speak to Jimmer at PowerZed as he gets them specially made at a very good price. Quality is good, so is lead time. A few members on here have bought them and have been very happy.
  13. That's not a 'decent TT' then. ;) Try to avoid cars with rust as best you can. When sills and arches are at the point of bubbling up, the repairs can be quite extensive as the inner sills will be rotten through also. If the arches are going then many other underbody parts will either be close to or on their way out.
  14. That's why you're not finding a 'decent TT'. The days of finding good Twin Turbos for £1500-£3k are long gone. Granted, my definition of 'good' is probably different to others'.
  15. Most folk here if they want to go the turbo route would do a Transfer swap. There's not really much point in turbo charging an NA. I'd suggest trying to find the best TT that you can rather than by someone else's conversion. Never ever heard of Squires either.
  16. Probably! I was just wondering whether it would be possible.
  17. Sounds like he's converted an NA with that sort of conversion. Personally, I wouldn't got anywhere near it.
  18. It's to help fund new events and activities moving forward. The membership fee was considered too small when you factor in reducing member numbers (as the cars continue to get rarer).
  19. Best place for it! Better than gluing to some conspicuous part of the dash.
  20. You are going to make it in your Z to Beaulieu I hope!
  21. My Z is a 91 Japanese model and didn't come with anything. I have fitted a remote central locking kit and associated fob.... As you can see I also have a spare Nissan fob.... Looking at them both apart, is there any way I could modify the innards of the new fob into the old Nissan one? Could the buttons and top part of the PCB be modified so that they'd line up with the Nissan fob? Or could the transmitter and crystal be removed somehow from the new fob and be soldered to part of the Nissan PCB?
  22. Absolutely. Taken my Z down to southern France a number of times. I have another euro road trip all booked up for September with another forum member.
