  1. IMHO, unless you have the supporting body mods, the single exit exhaust looks wrong. Like the car is missing a can. Also, I personally do not see the appeal of a single exhaust over a twin. The twin exhaust makes the most of the nice V6 burble. The Single exhaust looses that. Some people rave about the sound of single exhaust, but it's never been something I'd ever bother with. Pretty much all good sports cars come with twin exhaust systems, it just doesn't look right for such a wide performance car. A-symmetry doesn't work on the Z32. Supras have a single can because they are a straight-6. It's engineering sence to have a single exhaust, whereas 300ZX engine is a V6, has 2 heads, 2 turbos, 2 manifolds and 2 downpips. Why joint them together.
  2. 'Pretty much stopping it' isn't killing it. Also an inhibitor isn't a killer, it's a decreaser. Slowing it down yes, killing it, no. If you have rust, then the only way to kill it, is to cut it out. Waxoil is a great product. It just shouldn't be seen as being a 'rust killer'. Spray it on a panel before the outbreak of rust and it's a fantastic protector. :)
  3. Sell them then. lol Where were you thinking of fitting them? Doors or rear?
  4. Put the correct sized speakers in. If you choose a good set and fit them in existing mounts they will sound and look better than cuttout bits to make them fit. Fit a good amp to power them and they'll sound very good.
  5. It's all good. Quite a few people try and use the stage system. I was pointing out generally that this shouldn't be relied on as it means not a lot. :)
  6. Hate to say this, but 'stage' is a term generally used by people who don't really know what kind of power their car is making so say 'it's a stage 3 or 4. or whatever. It's not a true reference to any real power figure. Stillen made their own stage chart. SGP made their own stage chart. Many others have their own version, and some individuals just use their own judgement. The entire thing works in the sense that one valid stage chart would help when comparing two vehicles. However, with so many published versions and other improvisational versions. There is no use for them unless someone knows to which chart you are referring. Rolling road figures is where it's at! Ignore the stage system. It's unreliable. So many variables and most of them are just down to someone stating their car is a Stage 4 or whatever.
  7. Waxoil won't kill rust. It's a good protector though if applied correctly.
  8. Got bored today, so decided to teach myself how to use Windows Movie Maker. It's actually quite easy to use. I got a load of my Z crap together and some film of the car that I made today (yes, the roads were clear enough to take the Z out for a bit....bliss!). Added all of it together with some effects, added a spacey bit of music and Bob's yer Uncle! I enjoyed making it. Just wish I had some more and better quality video. I'm not that good on computers, but it came out ok. I'll make a better one someday, but it looks ok for a very amature thing.
  9. Enjoy! Japan has always been on my hit-list of places to visit. I am also one of those very odd people who has an very desirable interest in visiting North Korea. I'm fascinated with the place. It would be an educational trip as opposed to a holiday (for obvious reasons). Japan's economy is also going through the pan. If the £ stables off a little, then you might find prices seem a little easier on the wallet. The value of the Yen is dropping, not too sure how much against the pound as I don't look at historical date. TBH, £87 a night in Tokyo isn't too bad.
  10. I'm still going to do my 'drives' in France, but had thought about driving to Munich in the summer to see my sister. But I'll think I'll fly now! I've noticed flights to the US dropping quite quickly. I've managed to get a flight out to St.Louis in Missouri for a mere £387. So, with flight vouchers I got from a delayed flight earlier this year, that knocks that down to £220 and with an additional voucher, I've practically got free internal flights so I can go to SoCal and Branson Z fest. So, not looking too gloomy. Whilst the dollar has rissen against the pound, fuel prices have dropped by nearly three quarters. So, instead of paying $4.50 a gallon, I'll now be paying close to $1.50! So, it kinda works out in my favour almost! Still, cost of living expensis will have risen, so I'll be paying a little more for fuel and accomodation, but generally, I think it might be cheaper for me this year for my yearly long-haul gettaway Europe is a no-no TBH. I don't do package type holiday nightmare deals where you get everything all inclusive in a resort full of English people, so, doing stuff independantly, which I usually do) will of course cost quite a bit more. I was supposed to be going to Lake Como in Italy in 2 days time, but both myself and my other half (sort of) have come down with terrible colds that we've cancelled. That might be it for Europe for 2009!
  11. It's having mega abuse running that much boost through stock internals!
  12. On the contrary. I'd rather be at sea! (used to work there anyway!). The last Christmas I was away, I was bobbing around in the Indian Ocean at the time of the huge Tsunami. As for the 3rd brakelight. Typically, they are called that in the US as all NA zs and series 3 versions had them. You can opt for the simple perspex strip without the brakelight as they were offered by Nissan also. Personally, I like the 3rd brakelight, gives it a more modern look. They are nearly double the price though iirc. Approx £45 for the perspex strip and £80 for the perspex strip with the brakelight in it. Having a third brakelight is not mandatory. Nor is it an MOT test point. If your car already has a TBL or used to have one, you'll probably find the wiring rolled up behind the bootlid (inbetween skin and frame). It's a simple matter of just plugging in the connector.
  13. Thanks Athene. That is absolutely horrific. What drives someone to carry out an act of brutality like that?? Defies belief.
  14. I'm on the main news page. Can't see what article it is in relation to the first post.
  15. Links are going to Oxford Mail, but their website is saying 'article not found'.
  16. Even though I can't stand it, hope you guys all have a good time. Merry Christmas. :)
  17. It's a double edged sword this one. When I had mine refurbished, I had the lips mirror polished back to bare alloy (like they were when new). Now, Advan do put a coating on their alloy to protect it, but it isn't lacquer, I've yet to find out exactly what it is though. Now, as you know, mine doesn't even see rain, let alone winter, so they stay looking pretty good, but during the summer months when I am washing it every other week, I do still polish the wheels, say, once a month. They go very slightly cloudy, but only I really notice it. After polishing though, they come up very sharp. I just keep on top of it. Difficult when if you have to use the car as a daily driver. The shine won't last. But, the problem with lacquer is, whilst they are put on to protect the wheel finish, they have almost the reverse effect on polished wheels. For a paint to adhere and bond to a metal surface, you need to key it, so the polymers have something to latch onto. You can't do this with bare or diamond cut alloy. So you're simply putting a covering over something that's not protected. If you get a slight chip, or any peeling, that's it, game over, the wheel will have to be stripped all over again. After a chip, you'll get the horrible spider webbing affect as the moisture seeps between lacquer and metal. It'll lock all that in and corrode quickly. I am sure you've noticed some of the new Fords and VWs with machined centres with lacquer on them. They are already looking pretty shabby, with under-surface corrosion etc. These types of wheels really are only suited for drier countries. So, it depends how you want to look after your wheels. With bare polishing, if you keep on top of it, you can keep them looking fresh, but lacquering, whilst they'll keep nice for a short while with zero maintenance, when they start to corrode (and they will quickly) there's nothing you can do about it.
  18. Headgaskets aren't too bad to do on those. You still have to remove all the intake, plenum, and other bits to get to the heat exchanger.
  19. Headexchanger failure generally. There's an oil cooler that sits between the heads. When they go, they leak straight into the coolant. That's your most probably cause. Remove it and either fit a new one or fit an external one (making sure of course that you plate the area where the old one was.)
  20. Fahrenheit without a single doubt. It's one of the most expensive and the best smelling. :)
  21. Why don't you just throw the body away and build yourself a Locost.
  22. Actually, I did all my wrapping when I got back. My normally quiet house erupts into a deluge of expletives and four letter words if ever I have to wrap things. BUT, it didn't today. I don't know why. Everything seemed to wrap 'nicely'. Paper can have a mind of its own when being wrapped, but today it all seemed to do what I wanted it to do. I cheated with my parents' presents. I put them all in a nice shiny box without wrapping them. Sod it! LOL
