New block won't really be the answer. You need the current block checked and then decked. I'd get someone who's skilled to look at it. Both Jimmer or JeffTT would be the guys to get to check it out. Overheating can be many causes, so don't assumed that it's the block, or even the engine itself. It could be a number of different things.

Think so. He had a JUN one too. Think the OEM one was about 3k from memory? Although from Nissan as a new unit, I'd imagine it would cost close to 10k? Bare heads alone are about 1k each from Nissan iirc.

Nissan then! Be prepared to dig very deep into your pocket! Why do you want a new block? A used block, rebored with uprated pistons will be MUCH cheaper and better.

Sounds like the shift rubbers have split. Change those first before going any further. When they split, any noise from the gearbox that would normally be muffled becomes audible. 2nd and 4th are the ones that you can hear when the rubber boots perish.

Only worth really worth having 555 injectors if you're running or plan to run larger turbos. You'll need a new map too. Not really heard anything bad about the Nismo injectors. If you want, Deatschwerks are a good alternative. http://www.deatschwerks.com
