Who's got the widest rear tyres on a standard body?
Your tech guy is probably used to fitting 255s on a 9.5" wheel. LOL. 285s is fine on a 9.5" I am going to 285 and if I had any doubt at all, I wouldn't

No, but I wouldn't go wider than a 285 on a 9.5" wheel. It will give flat tyre wall. Mine aren't 'quite' flat enough and find I need some increased girth! The profile is only a 30 anyway, so they're not gonna roll on the rim to any extent. 285" is good on a 10" too. I'd jump to a 295 on a 10.5" though.

That's a given. I think the guy just wants to know who has fitted the widest tyres; offset is inclusive of that. If you have rolled arches, then offset can be tweaked to match.

I have 275s on my 9.5" rears, but they'll be getting swapped out for 285s eventually. I think Jaffa has the widest tyres on here on a stock body...the arches have been heavily rolled, but it's not a wide arch. I 'think' he has 305s on his.

Quiet around these parts
I have mine open most of the day on the forum, either by phone, tablet or laptop. Imagine winding the clock back 15 years.....before I even had my first phone, which was a Mitsubishi MT30, a really cool phone at the time and very futuristic looking for 1997! I dunno what I'd do without all my little internet things now. I read a comment a few days ago which made me laugh. "Imagine making a time machine and going back 50 years to speak to people; you'd tell them humanity has become so advanced, advanced enough so that you have, at your fingertip, a machine that can access almost ALL information known to man......yet man spends his time looking at photos of cats and arguing with people he doesn't know".

We've noticed it a lot on the US site. Traffic is down dramatically, but we think most of that is down to facebook, I can't say how TT.net is, but imagine they're not the same as those guys have been on scene since it was almost created!

I am not sure I agree with that Graham. As cars get older, this one included, they go through phases of being owned from new to about 15 years old by 'generally' people that aren't so fussed about the lineage and the car they have. The 350Z guys a lot of them are kinda like that, even for them it's getting less now. The older a car gets, the more it turns into a hobby/enthusiasts vehicle. We're AL THAT POINT for the Z32. You need to be an enthusiast to pump the money we do into cars that have little value in them in a monetary sense. You can actually tell that by how the cars get treated. You take the Nova for example. That passed from a cheap shopping trolly, to a boyracer's dream, kitted up, beaten up, chavtastic. NOW however, they've turned into a bit of a retro-classic and I think this is where we are with the Z32 right now. Numbers have dwindled as all the scrap gets removed and what you're left with is a small bunch of die-hard enthusiasts. I am a die-hard enthusiast, but I am not the biggest fan of UK style car-shows, unless it's Goodwood or something and generally the weather is miserable and unpredictable.

A bit of research in to a monaro
I've been in one. As a vehicle....they're a bit 'meh', but awesome to look at. I'd rather shoot for a classic 60s muscle car myself. Choice for me? 67 Camaro SS

Yeah, they were reasonably smart when they came out. Dreary engines and a lack-lustre chassis held those back, but they looked ok. The boy racers got hold of them and destroyed them. The worst actually is the the current one! It is desperately in need of having a new model lineup. It's just an ugly little mofo of a car, even when it came out... The back end is no better. It looks completely at odds with its self with its horrible window-line and rear lights; the 5 door looks better and that looks like a darn shoe!! Then there's this; the most miserable looking police car since the MK4 Escort Popular. If this was following you, you WOULD laugh!

Indeed, even the Chevy Chevys are Malaysian tat. When some stupid teenage kid crashed into my old Passat, I was given a 'Chevrolet Spark' as a 'courtesy car' (about as courteous a chav in McDonalds I thought). This car was not only hugely embarrassing to drive, the performance was just atrocious. I know these things are built to a budget and yes, I know they're built for the pearl rinse brigade, but JESUS! I was surprised that car companies still built horse shit like this. I had to drive down to Cornwall in it and the A36 gets a little steep in places; not only did I have to drop it down into 4th to get up, but I then had to drop down into 3rd! Yes, 3rd gear at 60, bouncing it off the limited, as if I'd slid it into 4th, it would have started slowing down. Horrible, dangerous and miserable. One of the worst cars I've ever driven.

The drivetrains are ok, it's the interiors, suspension and general build quality that's pants and that's common with almost all North American build GM products, they're heavily built to a price. Take the Chevrolet Cobalt which is almost entirely based on a MK4 Astra and outlived it in this format for a number of years. GM took all the good bits from this car (which weren't a lot of them) and used what was left to make the Cobalt. ROCK hard plastic everywhere, dowdy 8v automatic engines. An SS version was built for a while, but as a range, it sucked and was dower to drive. I had the displeasure of one as a rental car some years ago.

This is the thing, I don't think the Monaro has that 'standard Vauxhall' look, I'd say it looks more Japanese, even the American badged version (Pontiac GTO). It's a really pleasing shape, understated and sleek. I am no Vauxhall lover at all. Long were the days when I used to like them, in fact, it's only generally the older stuff that I do like. HSRs, Astra GTEs, Monzas, Mantas, Lotus Carltons etc. I am not even a fan of the 'VXR' branding. I find it, dare I say it...a little chavtastic....ie Corsa/Astra/Vectra 'VXR'. I HATE the Corsa. But the VXR8 and Monaros are a pretty class act and herald the days when Vauxhall actually built RWD cars as they were quite good at it, despite this being of Australian heritage.

I agree. How anyone would mistake a Monaro to a Vectra is beyond me....the two couldn't be anymore different. Monaro Vectra

I think having the 'like' or 'thanks' function has negated the use for a formal reply to say 'thanks'. I am sure that also, traffic is migrating a bit to Facebook. Trouble with Facebook is that stuff isn't really archived so you get more and more 'tards asking more and more retarded questions. There are a few decent 300zx Facebook pages but many of them are full of illiterate half wits with appalling cars and absolutely no clue and little access to searchable information.

Classifieds
I think it's better. Whilst the old one was good, it was overly-complex for the needs of the most. Larger items like gearboxes or complete cars it was ideal, but if you had multiple parts or indeed wanted multiple parts, it seemed a little too convoluted. New format looks good. :)

Lee suggested that all the cars that were on the old-new classifieds were now not on the system anymore and advised that they need to go back on the old-old classifieds....I think.

Flux Capacitor? It's certainly not an OEM part.- Sad day
Rules are similar for Canadian and US cars, the big difference is that Canada has a 15 year exploratory rule, whereas USA has a 25 year. This means that any car over these ages does not have to confirm to any DOT tests for emissions and safety systems. Really early RHD/European/Whatever Z32s from 1989 can now legally be imported into the USA, you're starting to see a trickle of R32s appear there now.- Carbon Fibre Scuttle Panels
Summer only. I don't need to use it in the winter and won't. You can't use its full power in the winter either as the roads are either wet or slimy and I don't see the point in putting an old car unnecessarily into harsh environments, I leave that for the Leon! :)- Carbon Fibre Scuttle Panels
Mine actually gets quite a bit of use actually! But I'm selective when I drive it! :p I did 3,500 miles in it last year. :)- Carbon Fibre Scuttle Panels
Mine still look like brand spankers! ;) - Whazit
