zed prices rising
Z32 prices in mainland-Europe are near double what they are in the UK. Generally you'll see prices of French ones at the very top around 10,000 - 12,000 euro for a nice clean one. Interesting to note the colour of this Belgian registered car. I didn't know that the euro mainland got different colours to those offered in the UK. Cherry red pearl is a pretty rare colour. UK prices of really good Twin Turbo manuals seem to be ever-so-slowly increasing. Prices of NA and Auto variants seem to have stabalised.

Oh The Joys of driving in the Wet!!
My car gets driven a LOT thanks. I don't like driving in adverse weather conditions unless I have to. I'll also rest easy knowing my rather old car won't succumb to the ravages of corrosion!

Oh The Joys of driving in the Wet!!
Screw that! I put winter tyres on my DD for that reason!

Oh The Joys of driving in the Wet!!
Totally agree! You can use all the power in the dry and don't have to worry about it....plus it keeps the underside clean/dry and thus, rust-free! :)

Some idiot hit my car
That's horrible dude. Dunno what I'd do if that happened to me. I hope you catch the ****s who did it!

intercoolers.
Be wary of pressure drop. You don't actually need to fit one the size of Wales.

intercoolers.
No, the front is where the radiator is....with that thought process, why don't you just stick yours on the roof! lol

intercoolers.
Stick with sidemounts IMO. Leave the radiator to breathe as much as possible. There is no point in fitting FMICs as there is already a place for SMICs.

A cruising speeds, 240-300 miles is about a tank of fuel. At the current rate, about £80 a week, about £350 a month.

Look what I found Funkysi
I know José at Ionic Dynamics and gave him permission to use these years ago when I hung out with him in San Diego. He made the replica 99-spec rear wing which is the best quality replica I've seen. I saw him earlier in the year actually in Mexico. A really nice guy. Those photos were taken at the photoshoot that Japanese Performance Magazine did of my car for the Z32 buying guide back in 2008.

spraying pearl
Make sure they match it by doing spray-out cards. Get them to try the corrected base (if available) with 1, 2 and 3 coats of pearl to see what the match is like. Each coat of pearl will darken the effect.

Cost of Paint
Thanks Joel. I did know there was some funny law, but couldn't remember the full scope. Lee, 2k has a hardener in it (added just before application) which makes the paint durable. The water based base coat does not. There's no activator/hardener in it, so effectively, it never fully cures. If you lay 2k clear on top of it, it creates a durable barrier.

spraying pearl
Nissan did sell the pearl yellow on the UK market in 1990 only. There are almost no examples of UK pearl yellows left. I haven't seen one in years. As for the matching, a very very skilled painter might be able to match it. Paint companies issue yearly corrections based on 'average' discolouration. A experienced painter can match if they have that mix AND do enough spray-out cards to match.

Anyone in Felixstowe?
Away on business tomorrow and staying near Felixstowe. Just wondering if there are any Zed-Heads near by?

Doing that though reduces the translucent effect given by having a secondary layer.

Cost of Paint
As Terry says. 2k clear coat is likely to stay 2k for the foreseeable future, waterbased is too soft and never fully cures, so always has to have a 2k clear on top to protect it. AFAIK, there are ways around getting 2k base. I think if you're a non-paint shop, you can buy for personal use. Pearl paints will use a waterbased base, with a 2k pearl coat and a 2k clear coat; metallic paints aren't actually 'metallic' anymore like they were in 2k base coats, they're now ground plastic particulates. TBH, waterbased paints don't react like 2k paints, so often, it can be safer to paint on top of panels that you're unsure of. The real issue with waterbased is that it's hard to correct midway through painting.
