Trax?
Just wondered if anyone is going to trax next weekend? I'm not interested in all the wideboy chav stuff, but its a great way to drive the full grand prix circuit reasonably cheaply. I've got track time with FDUK but last year managed to get loads more real cheap from other clubs who had people drop out.

skyline ?
If you decide not to mate, I may be up for this. I've been looking for either a tow car or a drift car to learn in without trashing my rex; and a RWD skyline would do the trick.

Red UK spec... M11/A14 friday 24th...
Could have been my Mrs. She's been borrowing my Zed for work and has been half way around the country in it (on my petrol!). I think she was up that way seeing some customers that day. I'll ask her later.

god what a t**t i am
Lol, whoops! My missus had a good one. She went to work taking our macaw Molly (don't ask!) in my old BMW one day . Whilst she was sorting out some horses Molly managed to lock the car doors from the inside, with the keys in the car! It took the missus three hours of trying various things, with the parrot laughing at her from inside the car before she got it open.

As a Yank I dont understand UK mentality
I think my spoiler is a viper as well. I can never decide if I like it? I think the Zed looks a bit cr*p with a spoiler on personally, especially the proper GT style upside down wing types. I took the big gay spoiler off of my rex because it was big and gay, but its going back on again as soon as I get a bracket fixed. I did some 'field research' and it got a bit dodgy at warp factor 'quite a lot'.

Been getting a bit more familiar with Checkpoint. Saves me hassling the firewall team everytime I need rule changes or monitoring for projects I'm working on :wack: I've got a Pix to play with as well but not got round to it yet.

Was this today mate? the missus has been cruising around in my Zed today but she normally goes at warp factor 0.0000000000000000000001 so probably not her! I've been around Wadhurst but not into Tonbridge today.

Cost of running a Zed?!
Do they? I always thought NA economy was not much different to a TT?

Cost of running a Zed?!
Don't be concerned by decatt scares mate. Zeds are no different to any other car. The problems are because the turbos tend to go after 60-80k ish miles and then people buy them and remove the cats and then realise they have turbo seals on the way out. The seals were worn out anyway, they were just not noticable due to the cats either masking the smoke or giving a bit of extra back pressure. Its just a big mission to replace turbos on a Zed (engine out)

Wife had a baby tonight.
Congrats mate. I was waiting for the punch line whilst reading it! very low key! think it will be 18yrs before things are back to normal though haha. Keep that hot crack pipe ready.

Cost of running a Zed?!
As a complete ballpark figure I'd say a couple of grand all in? about a grand in tyres and so on, and another grand in fixing things I reckon is a good amount. Hopefully you wont need it but I wouldn't have a Zed without having that money available just in case. My last Zed was heavily modded and had had a lot of money spent by the last owners on new everything. It only cost me £150 for a MAF in the year I had it plus about a grand for good tyres and oil, etc. The one I have now is standard and I've spent over a grand in the last three or four months in getting it up to scratch, and thats not including tyres. Its deffo a big jump from an SX just because of the cost of parts and labour. set of tyres per year - £600-700 oil changes - £120 average - £1k fix it fund

Newbie......Help !!
400 is a good quote mate. I pay about that 3rd party. Power is about 300bhp at the crank as standard. How far you goes depends on how high the boost is set at. The standard ceramic tubs disintegrate when you approach 1 bar (think its actually less than that? but can't remember. do a search and there's loads of people asking that question). As for reliability its a mixed bag and a bit of a mine field. My last Zed needed nothing other than a MAF replacing in the year I had it. The last owner had done just about everything possible that might have needed doing. My current one has needed about £1k spent on a clutch, heater matrix, and various tart it up bits. The engines themselves are very strong, but also extremely complicated and a nightmare to work on. I've got a later model Rx7 and I spend more for general maintainance on the Zed. You just need to make sure they have had everything already done because parts and labour are expensive. Lots of things are hard to do yourself (turbos is an engine out job). Most things will need doing at 80-100k miles: Clutch £300 + £200 labour Turbos £1500-£2000 Exhaust £450 rad £270 + labour heater matrix £230 + £250 labour unless you do it yourself Not to put you off, just to say its a lot cheaper to get one where most of these things have already been done, and then have some money spare for any problems that might (and usually do) come up.

HELP GUYS! Possibly going from 200SX S14a to 300ZX!
No offence mate but my old 220k bmw 525 would do that quite happily all day if I wanted to. A non-turbo Zed would also do that. A gtr, twin turbo zed or rex are in a different league. You might stay with them for a bit but its not going to last is it? Horses for courses and all that. I'd like an Sx to drift in and because its cheaper to run and maintain, not to top end it. If I wanted to go fast in the Zed I'd spend £500 on upping the boost a little and it would hit 160 plus no problem. As it is I've got the rex for doing that (and it goes a lot faster), so I'm not really interested in making the Zed go faster. I bought the Zed as a nice GT for doing journeys that are not fun in the loud and stiff rex, and because I love the cars after owning two others. Its just not practical having two big power cars that are expensive to run and maintain so I need to swap the Zed for something more practical. You should arrange for someone to take you out in their Zed, you'll enjoy it :)
