Nissan recommend 10w/40 so I can't see a reason to use anything other than that unless you have a highly tuned engine that would possibly need a different oil.

Properly tuned a 5 GT Turbo will give a 300zx a good race til it maxes out, especially on backroads and the like. My old car a Renault 21 Turbo had some mild tuning and would easily keep up with a standard 300zx TT. And after it was running a massive Garrett T4 it would even give a Zed problems til it ran out of gears.

I have a TT and for £40 of optimax I get about 130-140 miles. Not good.

Ok guys obviously when car is cold idle is higher but mines is sometimes idling at 2k when cold, when you change gear at lower revs it will jump up to that 2k between gear changes, car is sometimes fine though. Also occasionally when warm the car will idle at around 1.1 - 1.5k, this doesn't happen much but both probs are kinda annoying. What can i check and what are the possible causes? Cheers.

Why anyone with a car would even consider putting on cheap rubbish is beyond me. The 4 tyres are all that keep you on the road and should be your top priority over everything else. And as said Nankang are potentially the worse of the lot.

Sounds like zed gearboxes weren't over-engineered too much. The gearboxes from the old car I had a Renault 21 Turbo which as standard only had 175bhp are very strong and are used in al manner of very highly powered kit cars. Maybe some of this Renault goodness will rub off on Nissan as they are now partners in a way!

Take it to the garage that fitted the engine, surely you have some kind of warranty and also any good garage would look at it again for free anyway.
