Sounds like crank sensor. Had the same problem on my punto, was funny until it cut out on me at a Set of lights at rush hour! Cost a £10 for a new one and a ten minute fix never came back again.

They are a lot bigger than stock or the greddy ones

So far can get them for about $360 into the UK plus whatever customs adds on top. I have asked about a price if i ordered about three sets so i am waiting on them to get back to me with this. Will update when i know any more and see if there is any interest in them.
