  1. Yeah, I was hoping to stay away from zee Germans. My bro (older) looked into getting an M5 not long after I got my Zed and finally kicked his Civic Type-R's ass. Luckily he still hasn't so I am faster than him. Anyone with an older brother will know how much this makes me smile.

  3. Pablito, what's the best way to get to that heat shield to check it?

  5. Yep, only when driving and only at low revs when I put pressure on the engine. Pablito's symptoms sound just like mine. The rattle can be avoided if you're careful but it's doing my nut in and makes me look silly in front of the school girls when I'm "cruising for tang" Sussex Stu - Maybe you need one of those telescopic magnets or maybe just not have butter fingers... :P

  7. I'm getting a noise. Kind of an exhaust heat shield rattle but a much lower tone and nearer the front. It happens at low revs briefly when there is pressure on the engine (i.e. pulling away). Had it in the garage but can't make it make the noise at standstill so my mechanic can't find it. It's certainly not a heat shield on the exhaust as I have a full mongoose system now with decats and it's still doing it. Been like this since I got the car about 10 months ago and I've finally had enough. Any ideas..??

  9. If anyone fancies making my life easier and selling me a 200mph car cheap let me know! :D

  11. I've heard TVR are making a comeback which is going to make the prices of them go up again but at least insurance should come down a little on them.
  12. I've already done all my homework on the Cerberas and TVRs in general and I'm still way off owning one. Still want one more than anything.
  13. TVRs are a lot like kit cars except they come built and you slowly take them apart. They are damn gorgeous though and I would certainly put all the time and effort into maintaining one given the chance.
  14. And apparently... "With stock sized tires you could put in the Q45 3.538 differential and run the engine to 7,250 RPM for exactly 200 mph. If you keep the stock TT 3.692 differential and run the engine up to 7,550 RPM you would hit 200 MPH. Depending on how your engine is tuned, I would aim for a higher limit than 200 so that when you actually get to 200 you're in a decent power band. It may still be able to pull you up to that at redline but, like I said, just depends on how your engine is tuned. With that engine you have, it probably wouldn't be a problem having the total limit closer to 200 (running it close to its redline). If the engine is setup for a limit of 7000-ish RPM you'll probably want to go to the 3.538 differential and get some slightly taller tires. Just thought of another potential option. The Armada is available with a 3.36 and 2.94 differential. The 3.36 would definitely get you past 200 mph with stock sized tires and a 7,000 RPM redline. As far as actually using that diff... you could probably put the ring and pinion in a TTZ case as they're both R230's." - Some other guy posting on nicoclub.com
  15. Apparently.... "You would need almost exactly 600 flywheel hp in order to attain 200mph in a 300zx (679 flywheel hp in order to reach 209...) along with a significantly lower ratio differential than what is offered in the TT as well as some very carefully chosen tires." - Some guy posting on nicoclub.com
  16. Either way, I got 4 years to manage it. I was looking at a TVR Cerbera 450 Lightweight. Book top speed of 192mph+ standard. Certainly cheaper than anything else capable of such speeds.
  17. Of course, did I not mention I made my own Deep Forest track from Gran Turismo...
  18. As soon as I have reached my target speed of 180mph (gps) in this car I have to move on to faster things. The challenge is to hit 200mph before I'm 30. I got just under 4 years left. Set a bet with my mate years and years ago. First one to hit 200mph in their own car before they're 30. Some things I've read in forums have made me wonder though.... Is the Zed capable of the fabled 200mph mark with a little work...?
  19. Damn you! I'm not gonna stand out with you on my turf!
  20. Looks more like you had an accident and black bumpers were all you could get hold of.
  21. I've not seen the red one but have spotted a silver one about various times.
  22. ...and on that note, anyone got a right hand JDM folding mirror in metallic grey??
