  1. Crap - sorry to hear that Dave :( Any other job prospects on the horizon? Steve :)
  2. There ya go ;) Steve :)
  3. If the steam was coming from under the cam covers, it almost certainly one of the two short rubber water pipes at the front of the engine. It's a PITA to replace them (fan off, cam covers off, top water pipe off IIRC) but they are only a couple of quid from Nissan.. There's a diagram in the online manual showing the layout - I'll see if I can dig it up... CheerZ Steve :)
  4. Have a great day bud! :duffer: Steve :)
  5. LOL - you just can't get enough danger at the moment can you Rich?   Steve :)
  6. These are the guys who ran it - http://www.cecilsrentarookie.co.uk/ Top fellas! Steve :)
  7. Wasn't too bad - we all paid £165 which included a prepped car each, pit crew, racing suit, helmet, fuel and racing licence  Always wanted to have a go - been going to watch since I was a kid! :D Steve :)
  8. LOL - half of our lot were nursing some sort of injury by the time we finished  Don't think we had the energy for a rumble :( Steve :)
  9. It was a great night - maybe an idea for a club event  Steve :)
  10. Not just watching for once - I was driving! Turned up at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a mate's birthday. He races Stock Cars and Rookie Rods and he had managed to book 12 race prepared bangers for us! :D We were each to be allocated a car and had 3 races to compete in if we could keep them running I was a little dismayed when the cars turned up on a variety of low loaders and lorries and we saw that they were all painted pink (my mate thought it would be funny  ) Anyway, got my racing suit and helmet and checked out my assigned ride for the evening (a pink Cavalier 1.6L). I was number 709 - "Mr Ploppy" - and I was getting a little nervous by now! It was a proper race night at Wimbledon and we had a couple of other formulas racing before us. There were almost 60 bangers signed up to race so they split us into two initial heats to keep the carnage on the track manageable. I was surprised to see some TV cameras and we found out that Sky One were filming Camilla Parker Bowles' daughter racing for a new motoring series called Vroom Vroom which comes out in the new year. As luck would have it, she was racing in my heat... My car proved to be a heap of shite (dead battery, siezed caliper etc..) but I managed to get out onto the track and line up for our first race. Did our warmup lap, the stadium lights dimmed and we were off. It really was an amazing buzz and I was running on adrenaline. Had a few pile ups and I managed to avoid most of the trouble. Then I found myself on the corner next to Miss Parker Bowles  Gave her a nudge as I went past her and spun her out to a great reaction from the crowd! I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. As I headed down the home straight one of the regular drivers shunted me into the fence at about 40mph. No tyre wall, no gravel just a length of railway track buries 4ft in concrete! Fook it that hurt! My car had bounced back into the centre of track and I spent the remainder of the race cacking myself that I would get hit by one of the remaining cars. Found out afterwards that I had been in 4th place when I got knocked out of the race! Car was a write off, the front end completely staved in, but most seriously the gearbox had completely cracked down the middle! I managed to run again in the final race when another of our group injured himself in race 2 and had to retire. Again, had a brilliant time and a huge buzz! I'm typing this sitting here with badly bruised ribs and a sprained ankle (not racing related, I fell down some steps on the way to the bar :slap: ) All in all a huge success and I will deffo have another go! CheerZ Steve The Ploppy Mobile Ouch! Cracked Gearbox - the crack meets the blue pipe in the middle
  11. Thanks for the replies fellas! In case anyone is interested, I got the removal guide from http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/index.html Loads of excellent info on there! Spoke to Jock and I'm going to make my own with silicone pipe and sealant ;) CheerZ Steve :)
  12. Glad you came to your senses! :slap: Steve :)

Gutted for you Rich! Hope the op comes round sooner rather than later :( Steve :)
  14. I need to cap off a couple of the vacuum nipples after removing my carbon canister. I apparently need a 3/16" vacuum caps. Can anyone recommend where I can buy 'em? CheerZ Steve :)
  15. Have a great day fellas! :duffer: Steve :)
  16. I'm certainly going to be at the big ones next year. Missed out on loads this year (what with wedding, honeymoon and work). CheerZ Steve :)
  17. No problem - looking to do this on a long term basis so it would not just be a one off deal.. CheerZ Steve :)
  18. Oops - I think you're right Kev! I thought it was just the rad pipes and hard pipes he'd stopped doing :slap: Steve :)
  19. I couldn't find 'em on his site either  Probably best to drop him a PM. Details of the kit are here Steve :)
  20. I understood that it was an instant ban for doing 30 over the imposed limit (eg: 100 on the motorway is usually a ban) Steve :)
  21. This will probably be a universal Apexi filter. The bolt layout is totally wrong for the Zeds MAF (I know I bought one  ) It will go on, but you will only be able to attach with 2 bolts and it's a lousy fit TBH I ended up buying Smithy's twin induction setup and he kindly supplied it with 2 x universal fittings for me! Steve :)
  22. Requires splicing into the ECU injector wires and the ABS sensors amongst others. Not really difficult if you are handy with a soldering iron and careful with what you are doing. Steve :)
  23. Yep - I had the basic system and the Digi Adjuster does give you launch as well  Steve :)
  24. Not sure if anyone on here has had it installed Pete. I know a couple of guys on SXOC have it though.. Steve :)
