Membership Numbers
Smithy, if you're an old git like me (ie: born pre 1970) your birthday will be wrong. May be a bug in vBulletin?! Your membership no should be under this though. It doesn't appear in "Edit Profile" because it's not a user changeable value... Cheerz Steve

Vijay, did you get yours from your US supplier in the end? The Auto Illusions group buy went nowhere in the end  I know you did alot of ground work on this and would still be interested if anything came of your efforts... Cheerz Steve :D

Boost contoller reviews
On my investigation into boost controllers I came across this great comparative review of some of the main models (A'pexi AVC-R, Blitz SBC i-D, Greddy PRofec-A, Greddy PRofec-B, HKS EVC EZ, and HKS EVC IV Silver Edition). Thought it may be useful to those considering this route... http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0207scc_boostcontrol/ Cheerz Steve

Apexi AVC-R questions
Ahha! I found this particulary good one that Wazza posted up some time ago.. Looks like a fiddly job to do though   Can you buy that din blanking plate and then cut the hole for the unit? Steve

Apexi AVC-R questions
Many thanks for the replies fellas. Couple of further questions arise... 1. zevans - What is WOT - wide open throttle? When you say "boost wobble" do you mean a wobble in applied boost or just the boost reading? 2. James - will this "mechanical" work need to be undone before the AVC-R is fitted? 3. Is this the group buy on ScoobyNet? 4. Does anyone have a picture of this unit installed? Just wanted an idea of size and position... Cheerz Steve

New zorst pic (at last)!
NismO_UK - IIRC it was £760 including the decat pipes. There is a huge range of tailpipe options including quad tips and big bore. Highly recommended... :) Steve

Apexi AVC-R questions
I'm considering buying and Apexi AVC-R and had a couple of questions for those "in the know".. 1. Where have people mounted this unit. I've seen it in the lower DIN slot and this would be favourite for me. A bit worried about it being visible to thieving scrotes though  2. Heard a few worries about reliability. Has anyone had any specific problems? 3. I've had the SE Boost upgrade carried out already. Will the controller simply override/replace this or do I have to do anything clever to disable this? Does anyone know what SE actually do to the car when they carry out their upgrade? 4. Does the unit operate/display in PSI? The manual and pictures I have seen (from Apexi's US site) seem to show everything in kg/cm2  Any help/pics/advice appreciated! Cheerz Steve

Preparation for the SE rolling road day.
If you've got it installed remember to switch your traction control off or you'll be misfiring like a goodun and showing a Micra like BHP figure :D :D :D (That'll be my excuse anyway ;) ) Steve

New zorst pic (at last)!
Cheerz fellas! Clarkey, as Jock says "loud but not too loud" :D When you go to see these guys, you tick a box on the form - Quiet, Loud or Full Sports. I went for the halfway house option... ;) You can guess what Jock chose  Ben, I think that the decat pipes cost me about £100 but this was discounted as "part of the package". Great job though - they even welded new flanges on the old cats so they fit perfectly when you want to reinstall them. Yes, cat removal is illegal on a post 92 car but WTF! :D :D :D Steve

New zorst pic (at last)!
Finally edited out my No. plate so I can post the pic of my new SS zorst. Well pleased with it and it sounds luverly. Got it done at Longlife Exhausts who have branches all around the UK (http://www.exhausts.uk.com/home.cfm) They also removed the cats and supplied me with cat replacement pipes. Comes with a lifetime guarantee as well! :D :D Only a week after fitting though I noticed the dreaded oil smoke from the driver's side pipe. Looks like the back pressure/turbo seal problem. This has only happened once since however, and only after a heavy burst (ask anyone who saw it smoking on the slip road during the Box Hill to Brighton run! ) Turned her off and restarted and all was clear... Thanks to Jock for helping me strip the AIVs out.. Cheerz Steve

Insurance
I've just renewed with Carole Nash (http://www.carolenash.co.uk) on a classic policy - £350 all in. Limited to 4000 miles (I only drive it at weekends :D ), 34 years old with full NCB and 3 points from an SP30 in 2000. Only £150 excess and agreed value of £8000! Cheerz Steve PS. Norton weren't bad but they wanted a £550 excess!
