  1. Thanks guys! Cheers for that Zedzilla. Where in Northland are you from? I just the season before the one that just ended in Ohakune then did a big road trip around the rest of the island.
  2. This is what I call 'learning by other peoples mistakes'! Thank-you!
  3. Thanks mate, had a good look at yours at Zedworld at the weekend, love the engine bay and the very cool front bumper! I met vodkashots the other night and he said the same as you in regard to pulling the lump not being as bad as it looks. He also gave me a quick run through of what sequence to remove things and what everything was. I've been reading alot of general engine removal guides and have a video series on engine removal/rebuilding/replacing and that says the same as you with labelling everything and taking photos. Thats basically what I planned as i've had it before when you dismantle something its all fresh in your head, then go back to it a week or more later and you just think :turned: What do you recommend junking? EGR valve? A problem vodkashots also thought of with mine is that because it has an old skool style Japanese setup, its missing various things like the MAF which means part of the loom may be missing, it might have a different loom etc so if I go back to original as Jeff has suggested that might need replacing. Im going to pull it out then strip it and see the extent of the damage before I make any decisions anyway!
  4. What's the offset on those rims dude? I was very tempted by a Z for sale from a member on here a while back called The Veteran. They had a different offset on the front though and just didn't quite look right imo and it would have bugged me, as nice as they were
  5. Hey mate welcome to the club, I only joined recently myself. Love the wheels they look awesome and cars already the perfect ride height over them, don't change it!
  6. My money is still on there being another blockage and I reckon a good rad flush or two will sort it out. If you don't want to fork out on one try the washing powder idea, I just looked and it contains caustic soda like the rad flush, it wont do any harm and is alot less effort than pulling the engine. Do you know when the water pump was last changed? The impeller might have corroded so there is no water being moved, what do you think?
  7. Do you know anyone that has a CO2 test kit that you fit on the radiator? Or take it to a garage that has one. If there is no oil in water and vice-versa its the only other possibility if its not losing water. Is your fan definately spinning fast enough? Belt/clutch not slipping?
  8. Outstanding set of well looked after Zeds there, I love it! So much variety and completely unique styles. Some really cool headlight panels I hadn't seen before as well. Another great thing about car ownership in Oz apart from the number plate system is that you're 3rd party insurance is covered in your road tax! And even if you want to go fully comprehensive its not very expensive at all compared to the UK so you don't need to be over 30 and loaded to afford the insurance on a nice car:thumbup:. Only downside when I lived in WA was that they are ruthless when it comes to speeding, I managed to rack up $1000 in speeding fines in my first 6 months of driving! :dots: I want to go back........
  9. Yep, that was ace and has given me lots of motivation to work more, earn more and get my Zed on the road asap! Thanks for the great hospitality and information Jeff, Jamie, Linda and Danielle :thumbup1:
  10. Thanks mate, yeah doing up a house for a friend which will take till after new year. Cuppa at Starbucks next time your shopping?
  11. Is there caustic soda in it? I think thats the active ingredient in those rad flushes
  12. Yep but think how grateful she'll be if you get it done, I predict happy times ahead....
  13. Failing all of the above.... http://www.106owners.co.uk
  14. I'll pick you up if you're keen on going, no problem at all. PM me your number and address and we can sort out a time
  15. Where in Northamptonshire are you? Far from the M1?
  16. Mate I feel for you I had all this when I was backpacking around New Zealand, ended up replacing pretty much everything. Are you going to Zedworld tomorrow? If so you could see if Jeff has one you can buy then pop it in when you get back?
  17. Im not with my Zed at the moment and not that familiar with it yet but what the highest point of the system? Is there a overflow pipe to a header tank?
  18. Did you run it for a period with the heater turned on inside the car? You may have an air pocket in the heater matrix if not?
  19. Do they have a range of pistons for the Z to give different compression ratios or just one type?
  20. I think the phrase for you is 'car enthusiast' lol. Are you doing the respray yourself or is someone else doing it? Full car or panels? Whichever way you go do you have an idea of what it will cost?
  21. Cheers guys, They are nice wheels aren't they, i've never seen them before and give it a good stance at the rear. They need a bit of a refurb as the lacquer and paint is peeling and some have been curbed and whilst unloading I noticed the front tyres touch the plastic arch liner when you have turned the wheel just a fraction. They are a '40' profile though so will opt for something smaller next time or reposition the liner.
  22. Nice one, cheers for the offer man I will more than likely take you up on that when the only tool that looks useful to me is the hammer! P.S. Mrs parents
  23. Yeah that is the thing that appeals alot about Zedworld, it gets done quickly and it warranted, but im really keen on getting involved with this and the rebuild is most appealing as its a new engine, DaveZX has the bottom end already sorted he's selling atm so might jump on that before he weighs it in :thumbup1: LMAO, you will still be the Daddy in Norwich dude, im originally from Somerset and I literally don't think i've ever seen one anywhere round my way!
  24. Cheers dude, yep definately not going to be broken up its a keeper! Needs to be fixed and tidied up a bit and that hideous engine bay and underside of the bonnet needs spraying blue as its still red and looks terrible! Thing with red is that its the worse colour for showing up the stone chips as well......
