  1. That's what im thinking but my tubs have just been examined and they are damaged with no chance of repair so have to get brand new ones and when I took the prop out that was shagged as well  which it two expenditures I wasn't counting on along with the loom connectors crumbling. Thanks for the offer Rob but the car is the other end of the country in Norwich Another question on looms, there is one that runs from the fuse box on the drivers side, along the inner wing, across the front above the rads, down the pass' inner wing and into the pass' footwell. It doesn't look easy to remove for spraying as the main fuse box is part of it. Am I best off just manipulating it out of the way when I spray or can it come out?
  2. As Joely P said ask Mr F. in the traders section, failing that join the one of the skyline forums. When you find out let us know as I have the same brakes and am interested to know.
  3. As per the title. Ideally I need to replace most of the coil pack connectors, a few injector connectors and a couple of other randoms. How long roughly am I looking at to replace all 6 coil pack and injector sockets and the two randoms ones? Depending on how long it will take I might be better of putting those hours in at work and getting the loom, what do you think? I've priced a new loom at £360 all in. Does anyone know of one cheaper. It's for a '91 TT Manual. Cheers
  4. Is that engine mount a result of Jizzer Mark, or has it been hot tanked?
  5. There's definately a few more kg to be shed removing all that, i've just done mine and there is a fair pile of pipes, plastic and brackets on the floor now. You might struggle to do the carbon canister with the bumper on though if you decide to do so. The rest can be done by removing the wheel and a couple arch liners
  6. What do you reckon your install weighs Mark? You deleted all that crap from the arches as well didn't you?
  7. But you need to have a full tank for true kerb weight so for every litre you are short add about a kilo
  8. I was thinking to myself, how long will it take for a reply like that? 4 mins was my answer lol For anyone that hasn't seen the figures before, here they are from Wikipedia Curb weight 3,186 lb (1,445 kg) 2 seater non-turbo T-top 3,373 lb (1,530 kg) 2 seater twin-turbo T-top 3,310 lb (1,501 kg) 2 seater twin-turbo hard top 3,432 lb (1,557 kg) 2 seater convertible 3,313 lb (1,503 kg) 2+2 non-turbo T-top 3,602 lb (1,634 kg) 2+2 twin-turbo T-top
  9. Is that kerb weight? i.e. full tank of gas and nobody in it?
  10. Before and after the paint stripping lol  yeah will do, need to finish stripping the bay first which will hopefully get done tonight
  11. Yeah I was just looking on eBay at that link PZero posted and other TFR's, they seem to be the best value for money if they work, although I can see 5L of white spirit being ample to do what I need to do
  12. I kid you not the very best thing for getting it off your hands is washing powder, it's abrasive and a powerful degreaser. I bought a big pack of Harris decorators gloves from B&Q for about £7 which is the best option IMO, they are pretty tough, have plenty of powder in them so you don't get sweaty and they are ideal of covering pipes, turbo inlets, zip tying around oil lines etc to stop debris getting in unwanted places
  13. Mark did you clean your engine mounts with the Jizer to get them that shiny in your build pics?
  14. Well Groovers concoction worked alright but I can't deal with the smell. Mac the petrol worked a treat and Richards suggestion made me try white spirit which worked equally well and is probably cheaper lol, slapped it on with an old paint brush and wiped off with a rag:thumbup: I tried everything I had in the engine bay and it all striped the grease off along with all the paint back to bare metal lol. I can only put that down to alot of the crap in there being caused by power steering fluid which I think is corrosive to paint, is that right? Not an issue as im degreasing to spray it anyway but got a shock when that happened anyway:surrender::laugh:
  15. LMAO @ Steams Cheers guys, im going outside to try this absolutely foul smelling concoction Groover just suggested and if that fails some petrol as that is all I have to hand right now
  16. Can you contact whoever hosts the site and get the login details from them? Or just pop around and ask for them or the cd's? Does he live far from you? If it comes to it and you have to get a new one, you emailed the info and pics to Chris so it's probably all in your sent messages folder, stick his email address in the search field.

  18. I've forked out on two different types of degreaser and neither of them have touched the thick dirty/oily/greasy parts of my engine. The first was some autofactors own brand stuff and the second was GUNK, that I was assured was 'really good'. It's not. What do you use that's good and preferably can be used on paint so it doesn't strip my engine bay?
