# 4 - what am I doing? Little build thread!
Impressive work there Si. As you say, it would have been too easy just run wiring here and there. You attention to detail is excellent.

Great day out at the NEC
Had a great day out today with my daughter at the Practical Classic car show at the NEC. Some very interesting cars and trade stands, came away with renewed inspiration to start tackling the Zed. One interesting thing that we really enjoyed was a live stage chat show with Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, the new pairing for the next Wheeler Dealers. Sadly, Edd China has moved on to ventures new. Mike talked about many things, but the most poignant part of the show was how deeply he has been affected by the leaving of Edd. Not only has this left Mike with a deep feeling of sadness, but he has also had to endure a level of media abuse from a minority of the public. So much so, that he was visibly upset by some the appalling examples of abuse he has had to endure, despicable. I have to say, we saw a side of Mike that many people may not feel even exists, but I can now see that he is a genuine guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. I felt that I should see if there was a chance to meet the legend in person and shake is hand, also to give him my personal support in what must be a difficult time. By chance, I managed a quick word with Ant, who then introduced me to Mike. We did not speak for long, but long enough for me to offer a few words of comfort and wish him well with the new show. something I shall be watching avidly. Not only did he agree to a photograph, he gave me a big hug to boot! Made my day.

300zx windscreens - difficulty in getting replacements.
Maybe if the level of interest was sufficient, we may be able to generate enough enthusiasm on thier side. I will try and subtly find out Karen's status within the company, after all, it may all depend on how much she wants to help.

300zx windscreens - difficulty in getting replacements.
Received a quote from Pilkington's today, sounds promising. I will ask Karen to forward photographs if possible, particularly of the tinted visor area... Hi Dave, Unfortunately we only have tooling for the front screen and cannot produce the rear or side glass for you. Prices for a blue tinted version with a blue top tint is £228.33 exc. VAT and carries an 8 week lead time. UK Mainland delivery is £25 inc. VAT and payment is required prior to dispatch from our warehouse. With kind regards, Karen

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks both! :thumbup1: I will try and rig up a test piece at the weekend.

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks Andrew, So, just to be clear in my own mind, wire A is from the third brake light and wire B is the existing loom? Point of splice is covered by the black tape? As you mentioned earlier, an earth can be taken from the wiper motor.

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks Andrew, I thought I was going a bit daft. Not sure how to tap into the back of the connector though, I'll get my thinking cap on. Any suggestions?

MOT question
As a crude alternative to above, you can position the car, say 1m away from say your garage door and mark the relevant positions. Providing that you are on a good flat service, you can then reverse the car backwards the 5m in a straight line. If things are set correctly, the beam location on the garage door should not change. If they do, you can then adjust as necessary. A bit trial and error I know.

If you're having rust problems I feel bad for you son, I got a UK Zed
Take a look here, there are various treatments and coatings available. http://www.bilthamber.com/ May be of interest.

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks Andy.. So, if I understand correctly, the large green block to the left of the picture is part of the standard loom? Would this normally be left blank? or is it connected to the light assembly via the smaller piece of harness in the centre of the picture? I'm guessing the inverter is the foam covered item to the right of the picture, correct? With that said, are you saying I can tap off the green block via the small harness, as you have for the side lights?

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks Andy, Not being very bright, (electrically that is, sorry about the pun) but where and what is an altia panel? :blushing::lol: Also, where might I find the loom/harness? would this be a more convenient method to access?

Third brake light wiring.
Thanks Andrew. I will have a look at the weekend, l guess I will need to match up a corresponding connector of some sort. Hopefully it will be a common connector pairing.

I also have a UK car and had very similar corrosion! (I did cry to begin with) But after some serious thought, I decided to try and save her. Here's my diary of events... http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/thanks-everyone.15465/ Bit of a read, but may be of some inspiration.

Third brake light wiring.
Hopefully, in the not too distant future, I hope to fit a third brake light to my rear spoiler. I have a 1992 uk lwb twin turbo which came with only a colour coded blank. Will I find the relevant wiring harness within the boot lid that will allow me to connect directly to? Or will I have to splice into the existing harness somewhere?

Slightly off topic, but would anyone have any idea of the paint code for the second picture?
