Starter Issues
Morning Gents Your help please if you will...... I took My ZX out for a short trot last night. Parked it up at the shop for a couple of minutes. When I went back to it and tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. Dash lights came on but the starter didn't engage. As I had luckily parked it on a hill, I bump started it and drove it home. When I got home and turned the engine off there was a loud 'whirring' noise coming from under the bonnet. As you look at the front of the car it seemed to be coming from the back left hand side low down. I've disconnected the battery now to prevent any further damage. When i disconnected the battery the noise faded slowly like an electric motor slowing down and, obviously, then stopped Anyone else had this problem? Any advice much appreciated Anyone know a competent mobile mechanic in Bromsgrove area? as I recently split with my ex, have moved out and don't have custody of my tools :( Many thanks Dave

insurance
Pretty similar to mine then. Unfortunately Footman James where I work won't cover boost controllers at the minute so i used a company over in Wisbech called 2gether insurance. Got fully comp, 3000 miles, agreed value and breakdown cover for £245. Aged 37, garaged, decent postcode Their number is 01945 465508. Deffo worth a call

Holidays
With the way the Euro is at the moment Spain, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter, isn't cheap. I had a great deal from Thomas Cook, the shop matched the internet price, for Cuba November last year. £650 each for 2 weeks 4* all inclusive and couldn't fault it. Stayed at the Sirenis Playa Turquesa in Guardalavaca.

Just bought one
Thank you very much. Need to get in to Jeff to have a look at and tell me what i've bought lol. I would fine it hard to believe this was running stock. It's got a Greddy E-01 on the dash which is showing boosting up to 17psi. It started off as an auto but has been converted to a manual and has a damn fortune spent on it on springs, exhausts and induction. :)

not protecting no claims
I think Hollowpoint summarised the whole protected NCB/D system perfectly. And tbh i work in the world of classics where NCD doesn't really come into things so will bow to his superior knowledge in that arena. And tbh i work in the world of classics where NCD doesn't really come into things so will bow to his superior knowledge in that arena. For a tenner i'd stick with protecting it. Assume you had an 'at fault' claim in the Merc now. Your current policy is, for arguments sake, £900 minus discount of 60% giving you your price of £308. Next year your policy would cost £1600 because of the claim minus whatever....if you protected your bonus 60%.....if you didn't 40%.

Richard. Many thanks for that and yes, you've busted me wide open!! In a totally non-sexual way of course lol :D Unsubbed will be sorted this weekend when i pick up the new JDM TT. I'll drop an email to Brian tomorrow when i'm back in the office and hopefully we can get some discounts in place. Look forward to meeting some members at the shows :)

Just don't get it
Was gonna be brave and offer £101 but it won't let me make another offer cos i've made 3 already. As a consolation it has said I can 'buy it now' though :D Who's gonna make the first 3 figure offer then??

not protecting no claims
Yeh, all of the above is based in an ideal world. You might be asking alot for that. There's a couple of 2.8i's on eBay at the minute fetching silly money. My Claims Manager has got a beautiful Mk3 3.0s but that's probably close to £7k or £8k's worth...absolute minter :)

Just don't get it
It seems that my £65 is not wanted either :(

Just don't get it
HollandRob81 seems to be the highest bidder so far....so down to you mate :D I'd love to put in another bid but i'm scared now in case I win them!!

not protecting no claims
Gotta be restore all the way. They're not THAT rare yet...but give it 10 years and then think about all the cars have been broken and scrapped. I belong to quite a few classic clubs and some of them would literally shoot you for even thinking about breaking up a motor for bits!! Obviously there's got to be some breaking done to maintain a flow of parts....but if it's salvageable....restore it. You'll regret it one day if you don't ;)

not protecting no claims
Fair point mate :) We ONLY insure classics so our loss ratios are quite attractive. I have just changed the criteria for 300ZX's (as i've just bought one) from being classed as a classic car at 20 years old to being classic at 10 years old. Now lets see what happens to loss ratios :D
