  1. Yeh but you are about 107 Jim ;) lol
  2. Is often the way mate. Strange but true
  3. We can't split the year into half road use and half laid up but guys are getting quotes of low £200's (or less) for a full year's fully comp cover. I don't think you'll get a better deal than that even for just the six months road cover. You seem to be ticking all the boxes for a cheap quote, age, access to another vehicle, limited mileage, garaged etc so i'd guess you'd be at the lower priced premiums unless you live in Beirut of course!
  4. It's performance enhancing or high value mods we're not great with. Coilovers and arms should be fine. It'll depend on how much you value the alloys and the bodykit. If you tell us the bodykit us worth a grand when you could get one off Jeff for a couple of hundred quid you're not helping yourself. Underwriters don't like £2k wheels and bodykits on £4k cars. Don't bother with the online quote. Give one of the guys a call tomorrow on 0121 561 6250 and run through the details. We won't load the policy just because it's an import. Garaging makes a bit of a difference but, depending on postcode, isn't usually alot. Be sensible with the value of the mods and you'll probably get quite a reasonable quote.. Unless you've got an electronic boost controller.....underwriters don't understand them so they're witchcraft, they're evil and they won't touch them. I'm slowly trying to educate them but it's a sloooow process ;)
  5. Nope, we'll cover imports too but make sure you tell us it's a 300ZX. I've just found out we declined a couple of clients cos they told us they had a Nissan Fairlady Doh! I'll sort this but it'll take a few weeks to get through the system. Doesn't have to be garaged (unless in certain postcodes) but will be cheaper if it is
  6. You need to have access to another car to get the cheapest rates. Company car, named on the missus's runabout, Mums, Dads..anyone's really that you can honestly say you have access to ;)
  7. It might well have been less than £430 for fully comp. There's so few underwriters that offer TPO cover that there isn't a great deal of competition between them so prices stay high. TPFT is starting to go the same way. Biggest cost to underwriters is the cost of the third party 'injuries' so TPO cover is still expensive
  8. It wouldn't have been the fact that they're wide ;) It will have been that the value of the kit and the wheels was too high as a percentage of the overall value of the car. It makes the underwriters bottoms a bit twitchy. Try increasing the value of the car and decreasing the value of the wheels/bodykit and see what happens then
  9. Nope, no mistake. We've just got very good rates on Zed's if you're over 25 and the car isn't hugely modified :)
  10. No worries at all mate, happy to help. Get the targa's off and take her for a spin in the sunshine :)
  11. Too complicated to try and give all the variations on here and there are some strange things that come up every now and again. Mostly performance enhancing mods that aren't liked particularly if they're giving big bhp gains.....and boost controllers in particular....they're like witchcraft so must be evil!
  12. Steve...I work for Footman James and whoever you spoke to there is talking out of their bottom!! We'll cover all ZX's on classic policies from 10 years old depending on modifications. I'm in the office tomorrow if you want to give me a call on 0121 561 6297 i'll sort it out for you :)
  13. Have you phoned the office and they've refused it? If so can you PM me your surname and postcode and i'll kick their arse for them! If not call 0121 561 6250 and if there's any doubt over it ask to speak to Laura Jones
  14. Shame the red one has gone....we could have had some fun tomorrow night proving the Z is faster! They do say you should never meet your heroes.....i'm not saying it's not a fantastic car.....but I kinda expected that little bit more
  15. There's only one way to settle it ;) Not that I would condone racing of any sort being a sensible insurance geek type :d
  16. Just been back out for another 'test' now the errr track is a bit quieter and 100% agree that Voddy could have pulled away from one, certainly a V8 one. You just don't get the punch in the back that you get in a well modded Z. My Z was running a chipped ECU, Decat, Filters, Mongoose, Electronic boost controller at 14psi and, from a standing start, 0-120mph came up in the same distance/time. Given that Voddy was running slightly higher boost i'd happily believe that an R8 was getting smaller in the rear view mirror
  17. Ha.....a Zonda!! LMAO. Mine was called allsorts but never a Zonda!
  18. It is indeed....have borrowed it until Thursday for a corporate 'thing' at Old Trafford tomorrow
  19. I have my own imaginary quarter mile, it may be a quarter mile, it may be less but.......in my Diesel Insignia I can get off the lights to a particular signpost and reach 70mph......in my Z it was 120 and in this R8 it's 120 too so not much different. I don't like the V-tronic gearbox in it either if it's in Auto mode, too jerky.....it's Ok if you switch it to flappy paddle mode though :)
  20. You should be able to access it now :)
  21. The only obvious differences are in the mileage and the value so i'm guessing that's what is making the difference. I'm surprised it's that much different though
  22. Got a new toy for a few days http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/1159106719 Now, you'd think that it'd be a bit quicker than the Z.......but i honestly don't think it is although it's only the baby V8 one Will still be disappointed to see it go back on Thursday though :( Just see a white Z whilst 'testing' it round Droitwich
