  2. Just running a few quotes for renewal and thought I'd give Admiral MultiCar a try. The breakdown made me laugh ha...
  3. Thanks for all the help, I agree entirely with what has been said and unfortunately we are limited as to what we can do because ultimately if someone want's it they will take it. Love the idea of a 16 year old scrot going to all that trouble though only to be stuck there stalling on the twin plate clutch :D The other reservation aswell was the idea of it been keyed, its happened to my cars before but I think it would really gut me to see it happen to the zed. Looking at reviews elsewhere I'll probably go with a Toad alarm (seems tried tested and rock solid) and then as Leo has suggested the isolator switches, sounds the best idea and should be cool for starting up ha. More than likely though considering this I'll just leave the Zed at home. I was planning on biking around Sheffield and so getting rid of my daily run around as its mainly used two and from work, but sod it, I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable leaving the zed on the street whether it was safe or not. As zulley says Sheffield hasn't got the best rep at all. Thanks for everyones help :)
  4. Hi, bit of an eventful day today and to cut long story short after a fews months back at home I'm flying the coop again. I'm only young, financially it was a great idea but in practice, hell no ha. Anyhow thats all sorted and I can't wait for the move but my only concern is I will be moving to Sheffield and the idea of keeping my Zed on the road in the city centre isn't one that fills me with glee. As such i'm wanting to make a bit of extra effort and fit some extra security toys and was hoping for some suggestions really. Just bought a quick release boss as I figure the idea of pinching a car without a steering wheel probably isnt the best but anything else anyone can suggest would be great. Also I don't have the most faith in the alarm so if anyone could recommend a particular alarm and immobilizer that would be much appreciated too :)
  5. I've got it on DD because I'm a paranoid sod and have convinced myself the week I don't put my numbers on I'll win  happened to my dad, missed out on a 5 number draw. Anyhow this has been weds and sat for the last 2 years..... I've won bugger all :/
  6. had a play with the spray can today, power steering reservoir and cooling panel now both gloss black :) pardon the pants picture, I'll replace it with a better one tomorrow:
  7. great stuff, I'll run off now and start tinkering, thanks for the help mate :)
  8. I love it! if that's not vindication I don't know what is :)
  9. Hi, maybe a silly and straight forward question but until I have done something for the first time i am always a little trepidatious. I want to remove the power steering reservoir to paint it black, when putting it back is it simply haynes style and the reverse of removal and what do I do to avoid getting air in the power steering system? I'm sure that part is inevitable so how do I go about bleeding the system? I don't know why but doing anything on a zed even routine seems like it should be infinitely more complex ha
  10. I keep getting phone calls while I'm out and already doing something to see this, it really isn't fair! I'm a huge transformers nut, even if it means been relegated over to the nerd corner ha. I've always wanted to badge a car up with autobot logo's too but managed to hold myself back, as much as i love it I accept I might look a little daft :(
  11. christ, dont get me wrong an r34 is probably the only thing i'd trade my zed for but £4500, it's upset me that you paid that yet alone the idea of paying it myself. thats commitment I'll give you that! is it wrong that i know a lad paying the same for a 1.0 corsa on a clean licence though :/
  12. if its any consolation at my age if i got a quote for £1900 i'd be stoked
  13. fantastic work mate, you are however a mentalist!
  14. congrats mate, fantastic car you've got there and a lot of work gone into it! have you got any plans for her? :)
  15. when i was looking and expecting a respray to be on my bill i had my heart pretty much set on this: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/08/17/car-feature-gt-gt-pentroof-z32.aspx think it passed through these very forums at some point too, do correct me if im wrong though. I've heard stories about one two zeds looking particularly good in midnight purple too.. :P
  16. I think a meet is well overdue and we can't be expected to look after ourselves.. :P
  17. ye they're in little demand for a reason I suppose, it was the back that let it down for me, too much like an astra g. theres a lot of good diesel stuff for that money, I'd be looking around 5k and expect to be able to haggle 1k off personally which gives you a lot of scope. probably not what you'd associate with a frugal and reliable run about diesel but what about a alfa gt coupe? again not in demand whatever you get i don't envy it been in place of the zed :(
  18. ha, i do love your zed and been a secret fatty your pulling on my heart strings. ye I was looking at A3's a while back and the price and miles just shoots up for the facelift but at the same time I couldn't live with the pre. have you considered a bmw 320td compact? Good cars for their money and really frugal! the one I had easily aveaged 50+ especially after the remap. Its a a uyers market too and considering theyre not the most popular theres the potential for a steal. Granted they are foul in some colours but quite tidy in either black or silver i think
  19. i wouldnt wish one on my worst enemy after driving one for the first time the other day. maybe it was just the car itself but given there are only two pedals and so simple already simple enough to find anyway, why did some berk then see it necessary to extend the width of the brake pedal to where the clutch should be! :@ pulling up to that first round about is an experience I shall never forget ha
  20. you could always get an automatic, hand controls for the throttle and break pedals and just kneel :P
  21. The one in the picture is but the youtube link is the v8 edit: I'm glad I didn't think to refresh my browser in the 5 minutes it took me to remember to click submit... :/
  22. never driven either but going on aesthetics alone I'd go for the lexus hands down, wouldn't tuch that particular one however, the guy sounds a right tool! That said I'm not a Saab fan, like you say they're marmite cars, really works in silver though! Both are a million miles from a zed though :D
  23. just watching some of his video's, crazy.. i love it :)
