Hi peeps, I'm nearing the end of receiving parts from z1 to finish my engine bottom end rebuild, I'm told I should get new turbos while the engine is out. Do I get the new ball bearing technology or get the housing/impellers replaced (not rebuilding) and use current turbo housing (so good as a new turbo), I've heard trouble with the 360 degree thrust bearings and even a mate has has two failed ones of these from Turbo Technics, going out of my mind of what to do?? OK, managed to blow over $1100 on parts from Z1 to complete my build almost (Thanks to Jimmer)... main bolts, head bolts, complete oem engine gasket set, wiseco 87.5mm pistons (not going uprated rods, keeping oem). All I need to know now is what bearings do I need; small ends (or do these come with the wisecos?), big ends, mains?? I see ACL or pretty much standard, but confused on the grade and finding out what I need before I order them. I don't think Terry will look again as he lost his fingernail taking my bottom end apart bless him. lol (I know he will really :thumbup1: ) --- UPDATE --- Spoke to Terry, the mains and rod ACL bearings have a 0.025mm, 0.25mm and 0.50mm oversize, the guy who measured the crank said it needs only a polish.. what do you all recommend to do? (Terry recommends 0.025mm) Still not knowing the grading of the bearings ETC? And cannot find anything on small end bearings anywhere?? - confused.com :blink: ... Any help appreciated, Thanks

lol, could do, will ask him.. well jimmer said I only need weisco pistons really as standard rods are really good, just need acl bearings, metal head gasket, arp head bolts and maybe bored and honed. Wisecos are about 500, gasket about 150, bearings around 200, arp bolts are around 150... just need price on the actual labour and measurement.

Hi, Nearly got the money to do the bottom end rebuild Jimmer explained to me.. At a guess I will have to take one of my bottom ends down to an engineering place to see what size pistons need to be got after measuring up. Question is... How much will this check up or measuring cost me do you think? I'm hoping they will tell me what size pistons/bearings etc I will need before ordering them and not doing it the wrong way round. Anybody else done this? I'm going to Bailey & Liddle's in Faversham, Kent
