  1. plenum off first time is always annoying once its off you can clean stuff up and delete a lot of useless things which makes it a 20 min job later on....as for the head gasket replacement, the plenum removal will be the least of your worries. one thing at a time, and take your time. if your not confident, take it to someone who is, it may cost you but its their problem then.
  2. Here is a pic with the plenum removed http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/mediac/400_0/media/DIR_16504/plenum~pull~harness2.jpg The lime green shows the little hose which joins the 2 rails. The picture is taken from the below website which happens to be Robo's plenum pull instructions http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/16304.html
  3. thats an epic fuel leak!! why not unbolt the plenum, and lift it away and you will see the pipe joining the 2 fuel rails. if you haven't deleted the throttle body cooling it will be annoying to lift away. but then you may have to change your gaskets if you damage them as they are practically paper. As for the coolant system there is a tool such as.. http://www.bennetts.com/cooling-system-tools/sealey-tools-vs006-radiator-pressure-test-kit-440618-80991-167679.php obviously there is a cheaper kits as i just found it on Google but id expect a few garages to have this stuff.
  4. those bolts only bolt the throttle body to the plenum dont they? if your looking for a fuel leak, why not pull the plenum and check the fuel rail?? from the staining of the water pipes it looks like the flan blew it over the engine. id be looking for a leak forward of the engine, such as rad hoses, rad itself. why not pressure test the coolant system?
  5. ill be interested in the build thread to this ! :ninja:
  6. :happybday: :flowers:
  7. Just the man ive been wanting to stumble along! Spoke to leon at Alunox to make some manifolds similar to yours....but when he told me the price, i fell of my chair..then i got back on it so i could fall of it again!!! I have problems with pressure relief at full lock, but cant seem to find out anyone who knows how the pressure relief system works within the astra, wether it just slows the pump down using a set of slip rings on the steering column or wah.. so im thinking about putting a variable pressure relief system in it at the pump to stop it stalling under pressure and blowing my fuses. My email is adamhollings@msn.com if you could drop me an email i have a couple of questions about the CAS and other things. any info would be appreciated buddy! Hope your well.
  8. those wheels look sweet! as said above lower it first then maybe play with offsets if your really that bothered.
  9. imagine meeting this guy in a dark alley while he dances like that....
  10. cheers guys, hopefully wont be too long until its running, i wanted it at TOTB but that aint happening realistically now.
  11. dont these need a 500 mile break in period? my instructions say this for mine when i was fitting it today.
  12. Sweet ill pull it back out and get it on a pallet, might as well chuck the link ecu in too:sneaky2: It went in okay ish considering I was on my own. But all it's ancillaries need modifications. I've even had to modify the aftermarket conversion bits...
  13. Swap it for your 99 spec!
  14. May not be that bad buddy, so don't give up yet!! Hoping for the best anyhow :winkiss:
  15. Well erm, ITS IN!!! God damn finally and not without any cut knuckles or tears, and yes it slightly wonky at this point as a spot weld on the exhaust is propping it up one side it is literally that close! How I removed the auto pilot bearing. Yep that's a camber bolt. All I managed to do after that was adaptor plate and flywheel as my clutch never came with any bolts Problems I currently face which I have noticed- Manifold fouls steering shaft I have like 2.5" for a clutch master cylinder to fit in Fuel lines run too close to manifold My new fan won't fit without chopping it up :( Won't be believing anyone else's measurements for this conversion again!! More to come soon
  16. Ah, hope you get it sorted soon as I'm looking forward to seeing this at totb!
  17. Doesn't the one phutumsch have state it takes 575lbft? As I have he same one. http://m.ebay.com/itm/380900005641?cmd=VIDESC&gxo=true Ah really? That's the stage 4 I posted above (I think it is as my phone is shit)
  18. I practically paid £700 for everything but the engine, manual box not auto, n/a running gear. Not that expensive tbh. Did have some rusty bits though.
  19. hey buddy, i have the evo 5-9 caliper fitted to mine. i use custom brake lines evo X brake disks (350mmx32mm) my relocation bracket is aluminum from http://www.ao-ps.com/brakes.php People have other setups but this is mine :) the bracket is awesome quality too!
  20. Sweet, if you need a tool passer or someone to mock you when times get tough drop me a text and I'll be happy to help buddy, especially if I get to see that zed of yours :w00t:
  21. Yes buddy it's a beaut, you put yours to use yet? If so any pics ;)
  22. I bloody hope not! Haha I did check it before it got blasted but not after :confused1:
  23. Some more sump photos Before it went to the blasters In the second picture you can see the baffles i have made to stop the lower capacity of oil being a burden on the engine, even though i plan to increase it anyway. The baffles are orientated like so due to the pickup being towards the left of the sump. After the blasters And fitted! The fitment of the sump and the welding of the pickup have been a right pain in the ass but all done now and on with the installation!
