  1. From past experience with other cars, if you fit unsilenced decats you will get a significant noise increase. With silenced decats you will get a very slight increase in noise.
  2. I've got a slight missfire / rough running problem on my TT. It only happens on a very light throttle, such as when maintaining a constant speed. If I put my foot down a bit more, the car runs fine. I've cleaned most of the connectors, the MAF sensor and the throttle bodies. Any one got any ideas?
  3. You could cut them off with an angle grinder.
  4. Thanks guys, I'll give a couple of them a call.
  5. Can anyone recommend a decent courier? Anyone got a rough idea of the cost of getting 2 wheels from devon to the midlands?
  6. Thanks for the replys guys. How much is your 89 spec rear spoiler car mad?
  7. I need to replace my original spoiler with a fiberglass copy of the same type. Does anyone know if I can get away with just painting the spoiler, or will the tailgate have to be done too?
  8. increasing the circumference of your tyres would cause the speedo to read lower, since they turn fewer times for a given distance.
  9. you tend to find most speedos read over by approximately 10%, which would agree with your figures.
  10. Saw it yesterday afternoon as I cycled past redhouse lane! First one I've seen for months.
  11. Best to brim your tank first, drive it till you're almost empty then brim it again. You'll then know how much fuel you're actually using.
  12. So you can get access to the inside of the cills and chassis rails from inside the car?
  13. I plan on using my zed all year round and I know it needs protecting. I've searched other threads and decided Dinitrol cavity wax looks a good option for inside the cills etc. I was after some advice on actually doing the job, such as the best place to drill the holes etc.
  14. Got mine last week, it will easily fit through a standard letterbox
  15. I'm not averse to mods as long as they're tastefull and I can appreciate heavily modded cars. I've always kept my cars looking fairly standard. I did it this way as I already had the amp, sub and boot floor, so it didn't cost much and can easily be returned to standard. I hid the amp as I wanted to retain the use of most of the boot. I've no doubt your setup would sound better, but mine is good enough for my Iron Maiden collection! :)
  16. I didn't want to do anything that changed the car from standard, so I fitted 16 cm fronts and 6"x4" rears in the end. I used a sub in an MDF boot floor, that came with the car. I powered it using an amp under the boot floor where the jack usually goes. It sounds good enough for me as I'm not into "big" sound systems, although I'm sure it would sound better with some bigger door speakers.
  17. I've replaced the 4 speakers in my car today. The sound is a big improvement, which was not surprising when I saw the state of the original speakers. It lacks a bit of bass though, which I would think is down to the small size of the speakers. The previous owner had a new boot floor made with a sub in, so I thought I might as well use it. I have an amp and was going to bridge it, to power the sub. The stereo has 6 phono outs. 5 speakers and one marked sub. I assume I just run the one marked 'sub' to the amp? Does this have to be split in two in order to bridge the amp? I hope this makes sense! Any help much appreciated.
  18. Thanks, it would be good to see your solution. Was the sound good once they were finished?
  19. Thanks for the reply guys. My rears are 6x4's, so I don't think I've got the bose setup. I'll probably get 6.5" for the front and some 6x4's for the rear.
  20. Thanks for the reply guys. My rears are 6x4's, so I don't think I've got the bose setup. I'll probably get 6.5" for the front and some 6x4's for the rear.
  21. I've got a 1989 jspec TT and wanted to change the front and rear speakers. I've looked at a few threads and it seems that 6.5 inch speakers should fit in the doors. I wanted to check if this is definately the case as I've measured the cover and it's only 8"x5.5". I didn't want to take the door trim off till i'd ordered and got the new ones. Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi, Just sent my £20 for a new subscriber via paypal. Can't find an e-mail address for "steve-300zx" to send my details to. What do I need to do? Cheers Ashley
  23. Thanks for the advice. I'd love a set of k-sports but I mostly just use my car for local driving and couldn't justify the cost. I'd also have to change my standard wheels. I refurbed the calipers on my s14 and it made a huge difference. I never suffered brake fade, although I know that was about 400 kg lighter!
  24. Mine is an early JDM car and my daily driver. I just thought I could get a pair, rebuild them at my leisure then maybe sell the other set on.
  25. Only just bought my zed, the brakes are terrible! I was thinking of getting a set of used front calipers and rebuilding them, then swapping them over. Being an early zed it's got the aluminum calipers. Are the later ones a straight swop? If so would the pistons be interchangeable? so I could make a good pair if some of the pistons are knackered. Thanks in advance.
