Another wheel question will a zed take 20s?
These are 18" I believe - any bigger and it would start looking out of proportion...

Should I sell the Z and buy an MR2?
I have been thinking similar, though the Zed has already gone. I bought a 57 plate Mazda 3 Sport 2.0 thinking it would be a compromise and although I really like it, I miss having something to tinker with. I am now looking at MR2s and MX-5s in order to build a track/fast road car. Can't decide which one to go for at the moment though.

Happy Birthday Gareth B
Thanks very much guys. Spent the day on the sofa as I am off work with a knackered hip. Catching up with my Sky+ however. All the best. Gareth

Red Z, Chester
It was me!!!! On my way to college for my Japanese course which starts at 7. The zed is in regular use at the moment as my daily driver (Vectra) finally kicked the bucket last week with its second head gasket failure. Where do you work then???

Removing Cam Sprockets...
The exhaust cam sprockets are four bolts, the inlet cam sprockets are a single 19mm bolt behind the gold coloured plate held on with 4 screws. When you take the plate off be careful as there is a spring behind it which is under compression. One piece of advise would be to crack the nuts before you remove the cam belt as it can be a pig to hold each sprocket in place to undo the bolts otherwise. You can use the cambelt 'wrap' technique (do a search on here and twinturbo.net) but I managed without. Gareth

Nissan Dealership's
To be honest, you can do this job yourself in less than half an hour - especially if you have a pair of ramps, it's really easy. You can also buy the belts off ebay for about £20-£25 for the set. Gareth p.s. Don't use Hartwells - they are fricking useless. I speak from experience...

Some pictures of my Zed, finally fixed
Yes, it will be nice to have it back on the road but then after that the plan is to sell it. At the moment I have an W reg Vectra estate as a daily driver which is on its last legs. I need to get something else soon so I'm going to sell both cars and get something much newer but still with some 'sporting' ability. I just don't have the time to play around in the garage with cars any more, so need something I can just jump in and drive.

Some pictures of my Zed, finally fixed
I used the wifes digital SLR, the hi-res pictures really flatter the car, despite its age related battle scars.

Some pictures of my Zed, finally fixed
Does look better with the spoiler in my opinon, handles better too. Its being taxed from the end of the month. Its all MOTed and insured already I did a 60k service on it myself and changed all the camseals in order to cure an oil leak, it didn't!. Jeff at Zedworld gave me some pointers and a new pair of cam sprockets seem to have sorted it, but it mean't having to strip everything off a second time! Thanks Si, that is/was on the list of jobs. It did have one that was the correct size but it was in a cheezy font so I binned it. Thanks for all the positive comments! Gareth

Some pictures of my Zed, finally fixed
Having spent the last 6 months doing my own 60k service on the car (twice - don't ask) I have finally been able to wheel the car out of the garage. After giving it a clean I thought I'd take a few pictures as it came up quite well... It still needs a good polish and wax, but in the sun it looks ok to me. What do you think? Gareth

Renewed subscription
Ironically, it's probably going up for sale at the end of the month, just waiting to re-tax it after doing the 60k service on it (twice:headvswal). Keep an eye on the classifieds!! Gareth

Hi Keith, nice to see you back. You don't want your old one back do you? ;) :x: Gareth

broken the zed & need help
Just for info, the socket is 27mm. You'll need a fairly long bar to get enough leverage to turn the engine though.

350z
It's actually the Skyline 350GT in Japan or Infiniti G35 in America. The G37 is related to the new 370Z, not the 350. The 350GT uses the same floorpan (extended) and engine as the 350Z, although all are imports and most are tiptronic. Gareth

What would be the one thing you would upgrade on a 300zx
The standard wheels. The zed is perfectly proportioned for 18" wheels in my opinion rather than 16".

Lottery Garage
Here's mine... For the school run, an Overfinch Range Rover. Daily commuting tool, M5 in white. Well it is a lottery garage, Koenigsegg CCX-R. A japanese icon, NSX-R. The Skyline that I would love to own, Nur-Spec R34 in Millenium Jade. And finally, 1999 version R 300zx, in white again.

should gays adopt?????
Coming from a background where my parents split up when I was 7-8 and going through a nasty divorce (still don't really speak after 25 years!) my perspective is a little different. Knowing how I felt at that time and how I believe it affected the way my personality and behaviour developed as a result, I would say the following. As long as the child is raised in a loving and safe home then I really don't see the problem with who actually raises the child, irrespective of gender, sexuality, race etc. The important fact is how the child feels about it, not how society does; and if that child is indifferent to it and is happy and loved, wheres the issue? There's too much other sh!t in the world to worry about than something like this, in my opinion... Gareth (straight, married, one wonderful daughter) :)

Don't think it is out until the 13th.

might get this ???
Loved my old 1.4 Almera - absolutely bulletproof reliability. They DO rust though - mainly rear wheel arches. Actually regarded as a rather good handling car in its day. They can be quite anonymous to look at though (maybe a good thing in some ways?)

Whats the worst car youve had.
Hmm, a difficult choice... The Rover 623 SLi which was lovely until the cylinder head decided to show us that it was made of marzipan. Couldn't find a replacement for love nor money and had to sell the car for £400 (cost £2000 six month earlier). or... Volvo 340GL which would quite often decide that it was tired and so conk out, only to start up fine a few minutes later. Spent a fortune chasing the fault but never found it. or... My current Vectra 2.0 estate which eats cam and crank sensors, pisses oil, crashes & bangs like a milk float going over a speed bump but WILL NOT DIE!!!

Had a headache since Monday, anyone else suffered? Part of winter Flu?
Me, Had one since Monday night, still have it though I think my body is fighting the flu germs off as thats as far as its got. My daughter has been full of it since Saturday.

Would these wheels fit?
No, incorrect stud diameter. The zed has 5x114.3

Starting Problem
I would check your battery, mine doesthe same when standing for a while which is why I use a trickle charger when its left in the garage.
