Rattling water pump
I think the expression you're looking for is - '80LL0X' Gutted bud, its not long since you got everything back together and on the road either. But, on a positive note - it will only take half the time to do the job, now you're a spanner veteran!

Help with customer care issue
I don't know who Jeff is referring to and it wouldn't make much difference even if I did. I can see both sides and I would like to think if I was out of line, someone would tell me to pull my neck in. I don't think anyone has over-reacted and a little club spirit could easily see this matter put to bed. Jeff has helped a hell of a lot of people (and yes, I appreciate he's running a business) and without Zedworld there would be many fewer Zeds on the road. I think whoever the customer was/is should not jump to conclusions - but as I stated before, the way most garages operate it would be fair to make that assumption. But anyone who has dealt with Zedworld will know they're not just another garage. I don't think there is any need for anyone to hold a grudge over this - but I don't think its fair that Jeff should be out of pocket, for trying to help. Anyone else would have said 'tough schit' after the second injector failed. And rightfully so.

Help with customer care issue
I think the service offered at Zedworld is way above any other garage I have ever dealt with. Your charges are very reasonable and your experience is invaluable. As people have often discovered - other garages can cost way more simply because the mechanics waste time pursuing dead ends, which you guys would be able to eliminate in a couple of minutes with ConZult. There will always be people who think they have been treated unfairly and you shouldn't take this personally - its a law of averages thing. The customer in question may not appreciate the huge amount of effort you put in above and beyond what should be expected. I also think they have come to a conclusion which is more befitting of a 'normal garage' - i.e: someone trying to fob them off. I don't think it is reasonable to expect you to send another injector, certainly not without giving you opportunity to examine the car first. As a fellow zedder, I can empathise how frustrating it is to have a car sat on your drive not working. But I do not think this excuses the rather rude tone of the last message. You are right to feel insulted by this. Its a bitter pill to swallow, but at the end of the day he has not lost 35 quid, you have. As a way of ending this amicably for all parties, I would be more than happy to stick a tenner into a kitty - its just a case of bad luck, that's all. If anyone else feels the same, please say. I would like to think we could support Zedworld as they have supported us.. Cheers - Leo

Body on frame Z32 project
Don't pay any attention to what I think - I just wish I had the kahoonas to try and tackle something like this. Anyway, you didn't say you had a Micra!! Doubt you'll have much time to drive the zed with that baby sat on the drive! What's that? A mid engined VG powered Micra? Now that sounds like a project!!

latest pics!
One of the best looking cars on this forum - without a doubt. Super clean, in every sense. Nice job!

Time to do something with my zed
This is a travesty! Such a fine machine should be paraded up and down the Queen's highway at every available opportunity! Surely it will be possible to get mid-teen consumption on part throttle? Don't let it become a garage queen..

2 for the price of one?
SssshhhhH, Don't tell Mikey that.. You'll upset hime! I'd wait another few weeks - I doubt anyone wants to buy them, let the price come down a little bit - about 1500 quid seems right. The seller is called Bernedett (sp?), isn't that a girl's name?? I think they're foreign too, judging by their English. Who was looking for a Russian bride?

Why am I getting such poor MPG in my diesel?
Its a sign from the Gods. They're telling you to ditch the Derv burner and use the Zed instead. Only a fool would drive a diesel that does 30 mpg... (says the man who used to get even less from his Omega 2.5TD) My mates Mondeo was doing chronic mpg - one of his turbo pipes was not fitted tightly enough and was leaking boost. Was a quick fix, it was obvious from all the soot in the engine bay that something was amiss.

What to do with my engine
I concurr. I'd have to be 100% sure before I installed (or even sold) an engine like that. If I was fitting it to my car, I'd want to know it actually had what it was supposed to have, inside. If I was selling it, I'd want to know the buyer wasn't going to come back a few days later with a large spanner.. If you are confident it was all above board, then I'd have to consider buying another car to put it in. But I'm thinking you might have had enough of Zeds to last a life time? In which case, it would probably be more practical to cut your losses and sell the engine as a whole, rather than breaking it down and being left with a load of bits no-one wanted. Fortunately, VG engines will always be in high demand!

Twin fuel pump or aeromotive 340 stealth fuel pump
Just have a look at this bud, http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_17&products_id=1488&osCsid=1e9d0ec3f1e75d9bc64442a0dfafb4e1 I think it says the N/A fuel pump is good for 255 LPH and 550 rwhp, whereas a standard TT fuel pump is good for 700+ rwhp. That, to me, would suggest the TT fuel pump flows more than 255 LpH. Though it doesn't state exactly what the flow rate is.. Can't remember where I saw the flow rate for the fuel pump, but I can remember that the TT fuel pump is one of the highest volume pumps fitted to any car. A lot of tuners were using TT fuel pumps in other cars. Any ideas what a new replacement costs from Nissan? Edit: LOL - about $324 + import costs!

Forum trackday?
Petrol has a flash point, as does any 'fuel' or substance. A flash point will cause any source of 'fuel' to sponteaneously combust in an oxygen rich environment - no spark or flame required. Hot gases - saturated with fuel - reach a source of oxygen = flame. Simple.

Camber ?
Any decent tyre/tracking specialist should be able to tell you the correct settings for your Zed. When you get your tracking done they always ask what model and year it is so they can upload the manufacturer's settings and compare them against those. If you have fitted adjustable suspension bits, then why not experiment a little bit? If you want a bit more turn in, tweak the toe and camber settings. Alternatively you could dial in a bit of safe understeer if your car is too twitchy etc. The more toe/camber you add, the quicker the tyres will wear, but on a weekend car, I wouldn't worry about it - you have to use pretty extreme settings to kill the tyres prematurely. Generally a little toe in will sharpen steering response. A little toe out will increase ultimate grip but reduce sensitivity. More camber will also increase mid corner grip at the expense of tramlining on bad surfaces and reduced braking ability. The manufacturer settings will almost certainly be a comprimise, whereas you could go for a slightly more aggressive setup..

You get flames from the exhaust when unburnt fuel has passed through the engine - fair enough. But it doesn't ignite until it reaches outside the exhaust. It can't ignite inside the exhaust because there is no oxygen for it to burn. It is always much better that an engine should run rich rather than lean, but too much either way will effect performance or kill the engine. Overfuelling was a technique of cooling the pistons in early turbo engines. If you get your engine tuned you could always ask the tuner to have it pop a little extra fuel in on the over run for a little snap, crackle and pop. Depends who you ask, but it shouldn't do any harm or grenade your exhaust..

why so cheap
They're so damn cheap to buy, cos they're so freakin expensive to own. I've spent twice what I paid for the car on keeping it on the road so far.. and that will tripple once I get the engine finished.. and quadruple once the body work gets done. Most of them are old dogs now too, not many good examples about.

Body on frame Z32 project
Really don't understand this one. You take a big car, spend loads of effort making it a little bit less fat - have a load of aggro fitting an engine it wasn't designed for and then suggest making it out of fibreglass. That highly durable material that looks sooo good after a few years! You have heard of the 200sx haven't you? If you want to make something light, start with a small car in the first place. Makes a lot more sense. Still, gotta admire your enthusiasm - if no-one did anything different the world would be a boring place. I hope that it turns out how you expect. Good luck.

Twin fuel pump or aeromotive 340 stealth fuel pump
Isn't the standard Zed fuel pump 375 Lph?

Forum trackday?
no, they don't.. I've been on many trackdays at many different circuits - its always the same. No timing allowed - drive as fast as you like - but don't you, or anyone else time the car - not even from the pitwall. Do not confuse trackdays with trackday experiences - where you are driving someone elses car at a ridiculous cost for about 5 mins.. Totally different things. Cheers

LOL, I can see that the recovery vehicle is going to have a busy day  Who's gonna be on standby on the help and advice section when you lot are out on track? I reckon you should pursuade Jeff to come with a support vehicle (for a fee of course), just in case. I'd be tempted myself, but with standard brakes its pretty pointless - I can cook the brakes in 3 hard stops on a country lane, nevermind a circuit. I've seen enough cars with their brakes on fire at trackdays, don't fancy risking it with my pride and joy. Maybe next time. You should still be able to have a pretty good day though, you don't have to hammer the car as hard as you can - that's just my preference. Good luck with this one - make sure someone takes a camera too - for some onboard footage. Hollowpoint - don't do any timing, its a big 'no no' on track days, most will kick you off if they catch you. You can feel when you're going quickly anyway, its the bends which are the fun bit - the straights just link them up!
