Are you 100% sure it went in?? you should be able to get a 90 degree small pick in the front of the turbo and feel for it given that you cant find it from the top.With regards to "clocking" the tub by undoing the circlip,forget it as its a mare when on the bench getting the clip to un-seat then moving the housing.
