the problem with any forward facing vent or scoop is that for any given amount of air to go in there has to be an escape for air to get out or it just turns into a raised air dam...forward facing engine bay vents are not the ideal solution imho as the exit path is too restrictive back down past the engine,your better with a rear facing vent and at speed there is a low pressure point right behind the raised vent which has the effect of "sucking" the hot air out from engine area. I used to play around with induction vents on a drag strip trans-am in the 80's and found the motor gulped more air when the scoop was rear facing and cashed in on the low pressure = suck idea:yes:...at the end of the day its your call but ime just giving what ive found over the years;)
