The 535i - are you referring to the E34 Straight six(m30) (89-95), or the e39 V8(M62)? Either way engines are very tough. I have a e34 535i with 162k on it and engine is super strong. Very smooth, nice torque curve, but also aggressive and free-revving (like an e30 M3) when you floor in comparison to the more mellow V8 option. The E39 V8's are free from Nikasil problems, but the Earlier E34 V8's did suffer with this, and you should check that the engine bore has been replaced with Alusil.

Im currently half way thru the installation of an in-car computer (carputer). Custom built Mini-Itx system with 12v regulated PSU, connected to a 7" in-dash VGA Touchscreen Monitor. Im also running Mediacar on it (customised with Zed logo). Only half way thru installation currently. Loads of cables : Power, Earth, VGA, USB x3, RCA cables, Speaker cables....etc See pics. Plan on Fabricating Screen into Centre consol double din space at a later stage.
