First zed problem(s) - Overheated and Alternator/battery warning lights
With many thanks to Greg (and calls to Ryan(ztech) today, thanks :)), we discoverd the waterpump failure. Could hear a water dripping sound, and loads of play in the Waterpump viscous fan pulley/shaft. New pump to be ordered then :(

Any 21yr old zed owners here?
Excellent price. Im 25 with 3 years NCB but my current insurer(Directline) is asking double that. Is that just a regular policy, or limited mileage classic/2nd car policy ?

new struts required
The KYB AGX shocks with Eibach springs seems to be the most popular setup, and gets excellent reviews. Great prices from the US. Delivery will be $150 on top.

Not 'normal' newbie questions....
Welcome :D Q1. Dead easy to remove, press button, pull little lever and lift. They then fit in the boot, and "fitting is a reversal of removal". Q2. Cant answer that one, but never thought of the zed as a big car, and the SWB is even smaller :D .....but we do have VERY mixed range of weight and sizes here :wack:

First zed problem(s) - Overheated and Alternator/battery warning lights
Cheers guys. As greg says we will hopefully find out tomorrow. Im not sure how much water/coolant was lost, I think only between half and 1 litre on my drive, but ofcourse not sure how much while driving. Stuck finger in top of Rad and could feel water, so it cant be much ? Fingers crossed for nothing more serious than Belt having slipped off, so waterpump stops, and loss of coolant out of overflow as water boiled......with no damage.

First zed problem(s) - Overheated and Alternator/battery warning lights
About 1-2 miles from home this evening, floored it in 3rd gear and at about 5000rpm, felt a little hesitation. Immediatly backed off, and then noticed the Battery and ABS warning lights came on the dash. Took it steadily home (about 3-4mins), and parked on drive, then noticed water coming out from underneath car, together with the usual gurgling and hissing from overheating :( Took a look and found the belt in pic below hanging off. That explains the Dash warning lights, as alternator nolonger connected...does this also explain the overheating, as I notice belt attaches to Water pump in picture.? Im hoping water was just coming from overflow, what are the chances there has been other serious damage done ? The stock temp gauge was reading just under halfway !!!! , so new aftermarket one on the way. Seriously fooked off right now

newbie
Welcome :) A Fine choice. I used to have a Celica GT4 a few years ago. Nice motor, but the Zed is in a completely different league. Prices are low at the moment, so your in luck. £4k+ for a good example. Try to get one from a Forum member, check the Cars for Sale section. All I have to say about the GTO is read ANY magazine comparison review, and Im sure you'll be straight back on this forum ;) :D....with your tail between your legs for even considering a GTO :p Good luck. Also check out the buyers guide : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

daft question
echo......I had a set of alloys modified to fit my GT4 a few years back...I clipped a kerb at 40mph, the wheel shattered, car was written off...and we never found the remains of the wheel !
