Hi, cant help you on type of ECU, but that adjustment screw is the screw to turn diagnostics mode on for checking error codes. It should be fully anti-clockwise when your not checking for codes. Absolutely fine (and has benefit that you can remove it at night for security). You'll just need a 12v Regulated power unit/lead for it. also make sure that the Internal Video card, can handle a 800x600 resolution, as many laptops run at higher resolutions, which would make the detail on the Touchscreen to small for everyday use.
