Would you climb this?
You can do 'rope ladder' climbing in the Alps. Basically steel cables and ladders that you clip yourself to with 2 lengths of rope called Cows Tails. Clip and unclip as you go, simple! Called Kletersteig (sp) in Austria. Were originally put up in WW2 to help the Allied soldiers escape over the mountains to Italy. There's your Saturday night fact!

BMW HIDs....power?
Yeah, agree 110% with you there! I did order 6000K HIDs from a certain ****@greddy but 9 months later I eventually received the lights, albeit 8000K. Wasnt worth the pain and Iain's (MAC1) time sorting it out. The light is good, just that the tar on the road absorbs that freq of light as apposed to the white yellow light which it reflects. Do you know if it is possible to purchase 6000K bulbs seperately?

PMSL! But the Springboks dont need those rules while we have Ntini and Pollock!!

BMW HIDs....power?
Maybe they seem brighter because of the way the lens spreads the light? Our lights are positioned rather low down and are set back quite a bit which will no doubt reduce the amount of light that is spread out onto the road. BTW I have 8000k and they arent that good at all! If I didnt wait 9 months to get them off an ex trader, I would've complained!

Starter motor stud thread
If you have the correct nut, take it to a place that sells taps and dies and compare them to the nut. Usually come in various cuts, 3 usually. Start off with the smallest cut to remove the least material, then No2 then No3. If you dont have cutting paste, oil will be fine. Sometimes I wish I carried on with my fitting and turning job!

Starter motor stud thread
Hi Richard Is it too bad to run a die with some cutting paste over the threads? Or perhaps run a smaller die over it and use another nut? Havent seen it so I dont know it either will work, just an idea! How are ya anyway? Back in Ipswich for the week then back to Reading til Sept. Andrew

Be Aware: New Handsfree Law
Now that is a distraction! I spend more time looking at my speedo though those 'average areas' than looking at the road. I'd love to know how many tail end shunts there are in those areas compared to areas with the same speed limit and no cameras. In South Africa the speed cameras are hidden. So I just drove how I wanted and paid the fines when I dropped the hire car off. £55 for 3 fines, so cheap! And no points!
-
Know its been brought up before but...
I cant wait!!!!! But think we'll only notice it big time in the winter because thats when everyone will be couped up in the pub as apposed to the beer gardens. Mmmm, nice fresh air, I can just smell it!
-
Be Aware: New Handsfree Law
Oh dont worry, I agree 100% with you! I NEVER use my phone while driving. Never have done, even when I lived in SA and it wasnt law. Like the no smoking ban in public (yipee, at last) where is that gonna lead to in the future?? LOL at the BMW drivers!
