  1. Sorry! I'm still on dial up and it takes AGES for the pic to up load.......
  2. Me again! I was having a nose around in the engine bay and noticed this pipe wasnt connected to anything. It was just hanging down. On normal idle, the pipe doesnt blow or suck, but when I reved the engine, the pipe sucked in air. Anyone know where it goes and what its for? Oh yeah, its on the off side, right next to the brake booster. Thanks! :D
  3. Rodger that! And I do understand that one, LOL!
  4. Yeah, didnt quite understand it to start with! Cheers :D
  5. Ahhh, thanks! Thats what I needed to know! Thanks for everyones input too!
  6. But if the sensor wasnt working, and it is detting then the ECU wont know to put it into safety boost. Is that right? And if the sensor IS working, and it IS detting, then it should be in safety boost. Which its not. Is that right too?! I'm still learning on this bit!
  7. Sorry guys, didnt explain myself properly! Boost is fine, well according to the stock gauge. Pulling strongly too. I realise it wont boost up in neutral, LOL! I'm gonna check for a Code 34 shortly, to rule out the sensor. I'll come back with answer, thanks guys! ;)
  8. Yeah it is. The way I understood it, as explained on previous threads, is that it is a rather distinct rattle. However mine is rather subtle. More 'tiny stones swirled in a can' as appossed to shaken. If you get what I'm trying to say! I'm pretty sure its a rotating object making the noise. Similar to when the blades on the helicopter turbine engine rub on the casing. I only get it when I'm driving in gear. tried it in N whilst moving and it didnt happen. Thing is I cant rule out the turbo as its not producing boost!
  9. Cheers Rich Would you know if I had it if you heard it?? Oh yeah, I will ask around at work about your welding job.
  10. I think I may have it... Is it as loud as when you have noisy lifters on start up, or go you have to strain your ears to hear it when driving? Also, does it only occur when there is load on the engine? I've searched for these but didnt come up with anything. Thanks everyone! :D
  11. Unfortunately no! Or maybe fortunately!!!! I'm sure Westlands thought when designing the Lynx, "how can we make life as hard as possibe for the techs!"
  12. I might look for a garage that can take the engine out and then I can recon the tubs myself. That might be a good option!!
  13. Hey Carl I did, sorry I didnt reply! I'd love to pull the engine out, just dont have the place to do it. I dont mind paying for parts for the Zed, just the labour when I know I can do it mysefl! Even though it will take 10 times as long! First I'm gonna assess the play in the tubs by removing the intake pipe. However, just been for a drive and the noise (prevoius thread) is sounding more rattly. I think I very well might have the dreaded detonation too :headvswal :headvswal Thanks for your input Carl, very informative!
  14. Yeah, I'll need to get that done. Just dont want to spend close on a grand to have the engine pulled just to get the tubs off! Reconning the tubs look easy compared to getting at them. Cant be that hard though, I work on the least maintance friendly thing ever, the Lynx helicopter!!
  15. Cheers Paul! Note to self "must do a search first!" Now I'm gonna search if its possible to remove both turbos without lifting the engine...... ;)
  16. Seen this kit on FleaBay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T2-T25-T28-garret-Turbo-200sx-etc-rebuild-service-kit_W0QQitemZ8074949374QQcategoryZ43120QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Has anyone done this? Or is it a waste of dosh? I need to be a tight fisted Bar-steward at the mo, cant be that hard can it?!! :nelson:
  17. "But if I knew then what I know now, I would have done it differently. I would have kept the raised spoiler and removed the infill panel, then had the holes smoothed and the panel fitted. But you live-&-learn" What do you mean by the infill panel mate?
  18. I dont have a serial port on my lap top. Will that be a problem or could I use one of the USB cables that you are selling? Thanks Andrew :D
  19. So you need some too then! LOL!
  20. Thats cool! Thanks for everyones input. I wanna try and do as much as possible myself but I can see a trip to ZTech coming up! Oh yeah Carl, I always let her warm up and then idle for a good few mins after a drive. This is gonna be expensive...... :headvswal
  21. Thanks Carl! Was just about to ask if there was a way to check the turbos with out removing them!
  22. Yeah thats what I thought after I did a search. I've got the usual ticking for the lifters at start up but there is no rattling or shaking sounds. Whatever it is it sounds expensive! :headvswal
  23. Cheers Clarkey Is there anything that can be done to cure it? Everything is standard except for a 3" cat back. I'm running on normal Shell, not Optimax. Are there any other definite symptoms, eg. will Conzult pick it up? Thanks Andrew
  24. Crikey! Will investigate that leak. Got the dials from ebay mate. A bargin at £20!
  25. I've done a search for det and I dont think it is detonation. Its not a rattling sound, more of a warble. Its definitly a rotating object that is making the noise. It's rather worrying as I dont want anyhting to go bang!
