Fog light options (uk car)
I agree with JaiKai, I got the led reversing and fog lights from zedwizz. They were a little fiddly to fit but a great end result. I wired mine so the top two clear lenses in the centre panel are the fogs and the bottom two are the reversing light. Looks really smart, safer and sailed through the MOT.

That's the one. ZedWorld do a replacement pipe that is much stronger than the original. Well worth doing for peace of mind. Hope you get it sorted.

I feel a bit like you (Big Jim) in that I am not sure. I think I am going to go for a vinyl wrap because it's easier if I change my mind!

hicas warning light
Definitely check the power steering fluid before you do anything else. I had this on mine a while ago, it was slowly leaking fluid. I kept it topped up until Jeff at ZedWorld replaced a faulty pipe.

why a 300zx?
I think there is no better car for looks, performance, sheer driving pleasure and long distance cruising. For many years I ran pre-production research cars for Ford covering the complete range including the performance stuff and quite frankly they don't come anywhere near my Zed. I love everthing about it and always will. I use mine everyday for my business and cover around 14K a year in it, every mile is a pleasure.... ...Plus I love when people don't know what it is AND refuse to believe how old it is!

How to restore a damaged Steering Wheel?
Hi, as long as you use clear shoe polish after the dye has dried, it will be fine.

tension rod bushes
ZedWorld stock them and I am sure they will post them for you asap. Contact JeffTT through this site. Good luck.

How to restore a damaged Steering Wheel?
Hi, the wear and tear you have is quite normal and over time, I became frustated with mine looking tatty. After a few hours of carefull attention it now looks nearly new...here's what I did around the wheel itself (not the centre)... Using a washing up sponge (the one with the green scourer on one side) and a bit of warm water, I GENTLY scrubbed the leather to take the top shiny coat off. It pays to do it really slowly and every so often wipe over with a dry cloth so you can see exactly where you have been. The wheel comes up a sort of grey colour as it dries out and it can feel a bit grainy. Don't worry, I thought I had ruined mine by this stage! Then I applied some black leather dye (Punch Permanent Dye) over the bare leather. Be really careful, if you get this stuff on anything it won't come off! After the dye had dried overnight I applied a thick layer of clear shoe polish and let it soak in for a few hours. Then using a microfibre cloth I continually rubbed over the surface until the leather was a fresh deep black. Over the next few days I kept using the cloth to buff the wheel again to remove any polish residue and restore good grip. If you have the time, it's well worth doing and with the good quality leather that is used on the original wheel, it comes back nearly as good as new. Hope this helps.

90 miles to half a tank. 35 quid
I noticed a significant improvement in fuel economy (and drive!) when I changed the diff and gearbox oil. The oil in both was in a pretty poor state, the diff oil was like tar and the gearbox oil was brown and lumpy! After I changed both, I ran the car for about 100miles and changed them both again. Fuel economy improved from around 22 to and average of 27 (which I am still getting) and it was like adding another turbo. Hope this helps.

heaters smell
If it is your heater matrix, it's better to get it changed as soon as possible. I was on a long journey home on a Friday night when mine let go. Got showered in coolant and steam, had to lower the drivers window and stick my head out of it to find a safe place to park up. ZedWorld replaced mine and put new water pipes through the bulkhead, top job.

Taming the devil lol
I imagine it's the tyres. I still have the Jap spec Bridgestones on mine (waiting to buy new alloys) and they provide very little grip in the wet. Even coming off roundabouts at slow speed I get sideways sometimes and mine's an auto! I let about 4lbs of pressure out of the rears, so they are running at about 30psi, this helped make them slightly more predictable but they still remind you you're alive from time to time! Go steady.

Recommendation for a tune
For me, definately ZedWorld. Superb service, amazing levels of knowledge and great people too.

Possible issue with poly bushes???
I fitted poly bushes on the front tension rods and sway bar about 400 miles ago. All good so far. I will post a thread if anything changes!

The Beast
I thought the Beast was a stunning achievement and as mentioned above, an absolute work of art. I particularly like the way it has been seriously modded without taking away the superb natural lines of our cars. Brilliant, simply brilliant....and I managed to keep the kids from dismantling it!

silver A120
That was me. Sorry for the delay in replying, I missed your post on the day. I was dropping my older two kids back to their mothers house in Essex then heading back to Northamptonshire. Good spot too, it is pretty much standard.

New Member
Great looking Zed, welcome. I am a relatively new member (nearly a year) and have found the information on this site invaluable. In fact, as a Zed novice, I would go as far to say that I wouldn't be able to run my TT without this site. First thing to do that is critical to your sanity...get yourself a piece of string with a magnet on the end!

insurance companies are really stupid...
We had a similar problem when we were changing my wife's car. There was an overlap period of about a month when we had three cars to insure. Her insurers initially would not allow her to use her No Claims Bonus on both cars however, because she had been a claim free driver on my policy for many years, they took that into consideration and reduced her premium accordingly. If you have been a claim free named driver on anyone else's policy then it maybe worth a go. Our insurers at the time were Direct Line, they did it, although they wouldn't cover my TT for theft hence my move to Post Office Insurance! Hope this helps, good luck.

More poor quality work with pics
Good point (sonic006), to prevent any allegations of slander maybe the committee would allow a list of recommended specialists? Then members can assume that any garage not listed should be avoided.

Insurance Renewal? Try this...
I have just had my insurance renewal through and thought I would do a bit of shopping around. My existing insurer, Direct Line, would not cover me for theft on my TT and were looking for £471 fully comp for the year. Amazingly The Post Office (on-line) came up as the most competitive overall at £368. This was fully comp including theft cover, business use, windscreen cover (only £75 excess), named driver, courtesy car and only a £250 main policy excess. If your insurance is due, then the Post Office could be for you!

How can i have been so stoopid!!
Hi, A similar thing happened to me many years ago. I got caught doing 109 in a 60. I contacted our company lawyers when I got summoned and they advised me to "admit that I knew I was speeding but that I didn't realise by how much" (which was genuine). It sounds like this would apply to you too. I got a 2 week ban and a hefty fine, so I took 2 weeks off work and decorated the bathroom! Best of luck.

ZedWorld - Outstanding!!
Hi Galea, sorry I personally don't have any experience of Henstead or MJP. What I can say though is that ZedWorld are absolutely fantastic. They did some top rate diagnostics and they know the 300zx inside out, I would do the 3.5 hour drive every time. Hope this helps and all the best with whichever garage you choose.

ZedWorld - Outstanding!!
Yes it is! I didn't know this was on here. I bought the car from an import company in Cornwall back in October. Love it and want to bring it back to it's full glory. I am gradually learning more and more and I use it every day. To my knowledge everything is original (including the wheels). When the rain stops, I will get some photos posted. Thanks for the link, it's great to share this valuable information.

ZedWorld - Outstanding!!
If anyone is thinking about getting their Z checked over by ZedWorld...stop thinking about it and do it!!! Thought I would share this with you.... A few weeks ago my heater matrix blew leaving me in a cloud of steam a long way from home on a freezing Friday night on the M25. Came home courtesy of the AA (very useful, but most undignified!) Rang ZedWorld the following day, spoke to Jamie and got my car booked in for a new heater matrix. They collected my car from Northamptonshire on a low loader, fitted the matrix and competed a ConZult. To cut a long story short, Jeff's laptop showed some strange readings and after further investigation he found that someone had put NA injectors into my TT! Someone had also taken the Plenum off (probably to put the injectors in), re-used the old gasket causing a significant vacum leak. In addition, the cam belt had been rubbing on the cover causing the cover to melt! To be safe they changed the cam belt, the injectors and put a new gasket on the Plenum. I collected the car yesterday and what a difference! Perfectly smooth idling, loads more power and dramatically increased responsiveness. Jeff documented all the work including step by step photos of progress, kept me updated and managed to complete the extra work when they were extremely busy. I have never experienced such a personable and professional approach from any business, let alone a garage. What a credit they all are to themselves and all us Z lovers. Keep up the brilliant work and a big THANK YOU!
