  1. I used to get the aux fan kicking in a lot but since I've fitted the JapSpeed radiator it's never needed to come on again (including travelling from Gloucestershire to Northamptonshire yesterday with the aircon on and 35 degree ambient temp).
  2. This write up by JeffTT may help http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?126425-Tech-tip-Speed-sensor

  4. I've owned my imported Zed for 6 years now and use it as my main car (which I know is a rare trait) and cover between 15K - 20K miles a year. Personally I cannot understand why the value of our cars remains so low however prices are creeping up slowly. When I bought mine from an import company in 2009 I paid £2200 for it. It had one Japanese owner from new, fully under-sealed and with £51,000 KM's on the clock. At the time I felt that this was an absolute bargain for the car you get and have kept tracking prices ever since. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that the UK market is a strange one when it comes to Zed's. Many people haven't heard of them (which I like) and as a consequence don't recognise them (which I also like) but this impacts on their perceived value significantly. We were staying with friends over the weekend and conversation quickly turned to the Zed. Typical questions/comments included "Why is it automatic?" to which I explained that you can accelerate without ever losing boost and when queuing in traffic it's a dream. "I bet parts are really difficult to find" to which I explained that I can often get hold of parts for my Zed easier than my wife's Renault Megane. Anyway my point is that it's perceptions that you are up against (not the reality of ownership). It's my belief that most people buy a car that "fit's in" rather than buying one because it's different....actually better, way ahead of it's time and considerably more enjoyable to drive than most modern boxes. So, how does this help you? Well it's my belief that over the next ten years our cars will become considerably more valuable by becoming more and more scarce. I am totally with you on your vision of importing good Zed's however I'm not sure that the UK market understands their true value and are likely to spend money on other more common brands. People need to feel safe when they buy a car and through ignorance most people look at a Zed and worry about getting parts, maintaining it and ultimately selling it on. I really wish your venture every success, it's great to see the quality of the Zed's that you are importing, but I feel that educating the customer on the reality of ownership is the best way to help your sales.
  5. Hi, It could be many things but when mine started doing this a few months ago I found that the electrical connectors to the Idle control were broken and not connecting properly. I replaced the connectors with new ones and all was good again. I've put a link here with some more detail http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/tech/iaa/iaa.html
  6. Hi, I'd love to take them all off you. Happy to collect on Sunday. I'll drop you a text in the next few minutes.
  7. I have one of these fitted by Jeff at Zedworld. It gives you a lot more feel through the steering which most of the time is a good thing, however the good old pot holes hurt a bit more. Sorry no idea how to fit it but in my view it is worth doing.
  8. Just want to let everyone know how good the service from JapSpeed is. To cut a long story short I was changing the coolant on my Zed yesterday and also upgraded the standard pipes to silicone ones. When I went to fit the new top rad pipe the plastic receiver on the OEM rad fell apart in my hands! I ordered a replacement Rad from Japspeed yesterday at 3pm and it was here before 8 this morning, brilliant. It's great to get good service and I thought it was worth a mention.:thumbup1:
  9. Welcome. I've owned my Zed for over five years now and take it all over the country on business. I will never part with it and I hope you thoroughly enjoy yours.
  10. I had something similar a while ago and found it was a heat shield between the exhaust and the prop shaft. It is a flimsy piece of metal than can easily be bent away from the prop with your hand which stops the rubbing noise. Hope this helps.
  11. I would change nothing, I love the Zed especially as mine is 20 years old this year and people still ask about it and appreciate its shape.
  12. Hi, if it helps, i bought the one from the Zed Centre nearly 3 years ago and 50,000 miles later, it still works perfectly. I have just checked their site but they seemed to hav stopped selling them?! I'm sure they will be able to point you in the right direction if you drop them an email. All the best in your search.

  14. Ian, it was me Sir. I haven't been on the site for a while so sorry for the delay in noticing your post. Your car is looking rather good, top work!
  15. I use mine as a daily driver and my business takes me all over the UK. I do around 15K miles per year and have class 1 business use, full no claims and am 45 years old. My TT has HKS twin air intakes, a japspeed cat back exhaust, poly bushes, wolfrace alloys with spacers and uprated breaks from ZedWorld. All mods are declared and my insurer is Admiral costing me £405 per year for fully comp. Hope this helps, I found them brilliant and very accomodating of the mods.
  16. No idea...I was told this so I thought I would pass on the info to be helpful.
  17. 38%...hmmm...If we club together, we could buy an island, cover it in great roads and race tracks and all move there. The only thing remaining would be to take ZedWorld with us and all would be great...Jeff make sure you fail the test too!
  18. Just one thing on this subject...I was told by a very reliable source that if you are replacing the injector wires/plugs you must disconnect the earth lead from the battery, or it can mess up the injectors. Sorry if you already know this! Good luck with your cable hunt.
  19. This sounds really odd...I am no expert, but one thing I would check (speaking from experience!) is the light inside the boot. Roll up the boot cover so you can see inside and make sure the light goes off when you close the doors and tailgate. If you have already checked this then something else must me continually powered up or leaking to earth. In car entertainment can sometimes be the cause if it's been wired up incorectly especially if there is a power amp hidden somewhere. Hope you find the cause, all the best.
  20. That is pretty good. Most of my journeys are long distance and I average about 300 on a tank, however just picking up on Shell V-Power, I have put that in a few times and ended up with 250 on a tank! I stick with the BP high octane stuff (can't remember what it's called) and I get straight back to 300 per tank again.
  21. Admiral are also really good and are very realistic with their appraisal of any mods.
  22. Yes it did. There's not much thread at either end of the centre piece but I have run it for about 6K miles now and so far so good. Hopefully they will do a version with a longer centre which would help considerably.

  24. I think drifting is very impressive to watch...but not for me, I love my Zed too much! Having said that...I did accidently drift off a roundabout in the wet when I was running on old jap spec tyres. If I had done it deliberately, I would have been quite proud!...
