  1. Ive changed it, it still doesnt sound any better
  2. title heading? dunno what your on about lad  :whistling:
  3. Just been looking over my old posts from when i first joined. my god how far ive come with my knowledge of the 300zx, it all started when i bought a N/A from the isle of uist just off the coast of the isle of Skye in Scotland. Back then, i didnt know my PTU from my TPS, hadn't got a clue about coil packs, or even a CAS. Having been into doing my own car work for some time, i took it as a learning experience when the engine went bang, and decided to fix it my self. Well, changed the engine, sorted out the gearbox, and got it all running. swapped it for a Twinturbo, and my zed days carried on from there. Been loving every minute of it. just amazing how far ive come, and what a great bunch of people to meet along the way.
  4. I would love to rebuild it, but with limited space, as i have 2 breakers, its a bit of a mission, if i can get my black car off to the crushes and get a new engine in, ill quite happily do a rebuild but with uprated parts. at the moment though, looking at the only real option i have, which is to source a replacement engine.
  5. Good luck, i was looking at that, but due to the fact the main PCB is still worth around £300, your going to find it very hard to make any cash on them.
  6. matey, ive fixed my iphone 3gs 3 times now, all of them with a new LCD and digitizer, first time i needed to fix it, was because my daughter threw it against the floor and smashed the screen, and then i got the iphone white screen of death, so got a LCD and digitizer from Ebay - total cost £20 Fixed it, daughter thought it would look better upside down in a pool of juice 2 weeks later, so again, using the same seller, got another LCD and Digitizer, total cost £20, fixed it again, the next day, my son managed to find my phone and bite into the digitizer smashing it. So back to ebay and the same seller, got a new digitizer for £8, this time its been kept out the way of the kids, and it hasn't failed once, that was november last year. the digitizer is excellent and is just as responsive as the one you would most likely get on that website. Sorry matey, they are over priced, you can get Genuine apple digitizers cheaper then they supply them. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/prepaymania_shop/
  7. Sounds fine then, the boost gauge on the dash is pretty accurate to be honest, its the oil pressure one that seems to suffer, but i do have 2 boost gauges that read PSI if you want to borrow one and see?
  8. dunno why they sent it to the scrappers with the engine in, would of ripped that straight out and sold it separately.
  9. sorry matey, but cut the screws and replace with new from nissan. just be sitting down when they give you the price to replace them  or use cable ties to do them back up.
  10. no problem matey, hope they cure your problem :D
  11. well friday, ill rip the engine and gearbox out. get the engine bay cleaned up and start on the Auto to manual conversion, at least with the engine out of the way, it will be easier to fit the clutch cylinder and route the new clutch lines. im actually excited LOL
  12. well i suppose you cant always trust an ebay add, no mention of smokey turbos, or smoke of any kind, and although the add says "new engine from 47k miles" with a printed out bought ebay page, there was no paper work to say the engine had even been changed. im wondering if the turbos are really gone. will get them off the engine when its removed and have a check. need to remove all the shiney stuff off it, plus will be handy when putting the new engine in, as it can have a few deletes and by passes done. So not to worry lol
  13. Bugger, took the car down my mates garage and got a cylinder scope on it, piston 6 is showing a nice 5p sized hole in it. which is why its not firing, took the spark plug out this morning and it was caked in oil and petrol, so changed it for a known working one, and that just got caked as well, so limped it down to my mates garage. and found that out. New engine time for a zed now. but on a plus side, at least i now know why cylinder 6 wasn't working So i suppose det causes pistons to fry, strange as it was only the other day someone was asking about pistons and if they are forged or not
  14. Baz I'm sure the car needs the expansion tank
  15. Not sure, but wouldn't it be easier looking for one that fitted in the whole better? Like one off a smaller car modified to fit?
  16. i support tottenham, so im fully aware of what its like, why do i support them? easy, they ain't always winning, and can make a match entertaining. sod all the politics
  17. Well engine would have to come out for the turbo change, so if its piston rings, i suppose i may as well change the buggers. Ill get the passenger side pipes off tomorrow and have a check, but doubt its going to make much of a difference. would of thought the rear seal would go before the front one. Basically it smokes from start and when you rev the engine (though not good with just 5 cylinders working) It doesnt really smell of oil out of the exhaust though, and i cant tell what turbo is smoking if any, as there is a balance bar in the middle. doesnt smoke when on a run though? which i would of thought it would with ring failure.
  18. Right, so looks like im getting blow back from piston ring failure by the sounds of it, but would of though that oil in the intake wouldn't make it down as far as the turbos pipes exiting from the turbo, due to the high flow of air coming from the intercooler? or am i just looking at a PCV valve change? Basically there is a lot of oil in the lower set of turbo pipes, and also in the ones going to the throttle bodies. no doubt the reason its smoking from idle and when rev'ed. with the balance bar removed, there is like a nice puddle of oil sitting in the plenum. am i looking at replacing the piston rings? or could it be due to the PCV valves. timing is also off by 10 degrees, would the ECU advance the timing that much? or shall i just set it properly with the CAS (though no doubt the damage has already been done)
  19. Baz you didnt pay attention did you the last time we went over this, the one you sent me didnt start the car  i had to put mine back on.
  20. Now all you need to do, is build the car around it, at least you wont have to worry about damaging the paint work putting it into the car.
  21. I can see him putting it in his living room in a glass filtered box lol
  22. injector is firing, its the coil pack that isnt, just been out swapping coil packs around and no change, cleaned up the PTU as well, still no different. ill be checking the spark plug tomorrow. but i have a feeling its a PTU fault. Also, found a LOT of oil in the intake pipes coming from the turbo and too the throttle bodies. and a lot of oil resting in the plenum through the balance bar holes.
