Anyone with Conzult near Oxford/Reading
As above, does anyone in the area have conzult? I could really do with checking out the car as she's got a running issue with a bit of hesitation. Beer tokens, tea and bacon sarnies waiting for anyone who can help me out. Cheers Pabs

Using a cheap N/A auto as a daily driver?
i don't use mine as a daily any more... i did for about 6 months to a year but in the end went back to the rocco. It just wasn't financially viable for me... £80-£90 a tank and at least a tank a week. £5k a year to get to work and back was too much for me so now she comes out on the weekends, and i have to say that i appreiciate her all the more for it. Reliability wise i had no real issues. I hope you find what your after bud, but i would have thought that your little mx5 would be a perfect, cheap, fun daily driver?

You can't beat decent proper coffee
I tried that today, and it was very nice for instant, like you say very nearly as good as the real deal.

You can't beat decent proper coffee
Did you use instant granules or the proper ground coffee? Your meant to use the proper stuff in that little machine.

You can't beat decent proper coffee
Just supping on some proper italian dark roask made with an old school italian coffee maker... sooo nice. I tried some of that new microgranule instant stuff and while it is definately better than your average nescafe, it still doesn't have the richness and depth of flavour of the proper stuff. I am however ashamed to say that i like coffee whitener (coffee mate or tesco equivilent) as opposed to milk as i find it makes it far more creamy. My missus has earl grey all the time. what about you tea or coffee?

She's not quite right... help please!
Oh i wish i could look like your ex in that photo.... your just teasing me... showing me what i could look like if i buckled down and put in the hard miles!... I never should have cut my hair! and i would just like to clarify something..... you did just say in writing that you are looking for a 16yr old skinny teenager right?.... That's a bit worrying, i think yiou may have let out a bit too much bud. may i suggest a 30+ thai lady or boy, or even ladyboy or perhaps any other individual of south east asian persuasion, as any would probably look like a skinny teen without scraping the moral or ethical barrel..... Oh louis... why didn't you just keep your fantisies to yourself?

She's not quite right... help please!
Mate, i know very little to be honest and i am by no means loaded, but please try to remember that not all of us are as skilled and knowledgable about these things as yourself and we have to take the advise of those who are more knowledgable than ourselves. Your right, with enough time and patience you could probably sort all the problems that arise, but alas i dont have too much of either. Neither do i have the skill or knowledge, hence the thread asking for advice. I appreciate what your saying though, and as i mentioned before i know you know your stuff and are very well respected on here, I will try and do what you have suggested, ie check the injectors, coilpacks and all connections, i will just have a spare ptu on the way in case it is none of the aformentioned, and all for the bargain price of £38... which in the grand scheme of things with regards to the money i have ploughed into my car is a drop in the ocean to be honest.... not even half a bloody tank of petrol thesedays.. :wack:

She's not quite right... help please!
I know you know your stuff mate, and you may well be right it might just be a dodgy plug etc but with all due respect I have to disagree, £38 delivered for an s2ptu which costs £180 new from zcentre seemed like a bargain to me. I will try and give all the connections a clean and a check in the meantime, but i thought that to have a spare ptu, and an s2 no less would be no bad thing. Also i thought that the US market did a recall on the old ptus as they were seen to be a problem, but not recalled in the jap or uk market?

She's not quite right... help please!
Thanks guys, i did a quickcheck ebay.com and all i found were ones going for $160 plus delivery... one guys wanted $80 for delivery!!! One of our lovely members is being a true gentleman and is popping over on the weekend to sort me out with a working S1 ptu so i can get back in her ASAP, but they are clearly a weak link so I just bought the one with the harness and connectors for when the inevitable happens again.

Sounds about right mate. It is behaving as you describe. How much for a PTU? and what series should i be going for, also how hard to swap? Love the new sig by the way Ian!

I tried disconnecting the maf and reconnecting, seems to be fine there with regards to there being no moisture in there, no corroding or crap around teh connectors.

She's not quite right... help please!
Well, i have to say i'm falling out of love at the moment... She's running a bit strangly at the moment, let me try and explain what's happening: First: The other day i was driving home, booted it a bit on a straight, then went back to normal driving. She started to shudder a bit and felt like she was misfiring, then cut out. I pulled over, started her up and she fired up first time so drove back home, every now and then she felt like the power was retarded, and i had to rev the engine a bit as it felt as if it would cut out again. I swapped out the oil and it was dirty black and replaced with fully synthetic 5w40. I started her up again today to see how she was running, and she sat on the driveway quite happy ticking over at just under 1k. I took her up and down the ringroad where i live for about 5 or 10 mins, varying my driving from gentle to a bit harder (no real booting it though) evrything seemed fine and i thought that all was good... untill, again the power felt a bit retarded, she felt as if she was misfiring and she backfired a few times. I was behind someone driving quite slowly and i had to press the clutch down and rev a bit higher as it felt that if i left it in 3rd running at 1.5-2k revs that she would cut out... it was a bit juddery and felt as if there was a lack of fuel if that makes sense? Just a bit of backround info... she has been a bit noisy of late with a tickety tick type sound when at idle, which people seem to think might be sticky lifters. I have recently had a manual conversion done, which seems to be fine, with no gearbox issues, and i have decatted. I did a quick check on the connectors that i could easily get to, and they all seem to be in place ok... Any ideas people? I just want to enjoy my car really, It was off the road all winter and having had her back only for a short time I am gutted that she's not quite right. The only people i would trust to do any work on her are miles away from where i live, and with her not running properly i wouldn't want to drive her there anyway. Help please.
