  1. all jokes aside, just realized by doing it myself have saved a load of money, means i can spend more at Z1... think im going to get some AMS under drive pulleys
  2. :tongue_smilie: that would be hilarious, enough zed enthusiast it could be done.... but then again... could also end up stuck at castle combe with half an engine... would be great fun to watch though... maybe a JAE thing where we have all weekend :tongue_smilie:
  3. really , really annoyed, my zeds been with GDA for 2 weeks, was due back tommorow morning after getting its new turbos fitted called them tonight to arrange collect but they have only just started it......:censored: and then they had the nerve to try to sell me a engine loom for it, (baring in mind im very good with electrics and i work for Nissan).. theres a reaon i dont trust garages with my cars...:crying: to cut a long story short im going to get it without any of the work done, so shes going to japfest smokey, and then im taking a week off to pull the engine and do it myself like i always should have done, i cant seem to get the links to work so does anyone have any how to's or useful guides etc for changing the turbos? i've pulled and rebuilt a 200sx engine before so hope the zeds not going to put up much of a fight. or if theres anyone at japfest how wants to meet up and give me a few pointers ill be on the ADL Racing stand.
  4. thanks, its about what i expected...
  5. has anyone bought from Z1 recently, and can remember roughly what import duty is? iirc it was about 20% last time i bought from them, im going to be ordering a load of bits in the next couple of weeks so just trying to price it all up.
  6. completely depends on where your driving and driving style, got 26 MPG out of mine on a long boring motorway run, and about 15mpg on an everyday rush to work not an obvious one but the bonnet catch, is a good one to check (make sure its working correctly and oiled up), and a visual check for fluid leaks always a good idea. recent on i found on my zed was one of the injector connectors had lost its clip so was slightly loose, causing intermittent running issues. although when ever mines on the ramp at work (at least once a month) the mechanics always come have a look and find something wrong with it lol...., latest one was a steering gator was cracked
  7. problem im now having is finding somewhere to get the C02 bottle refilled???
  8. between the cry02 system, selin maf translator, and the big turbos, she's going to be a monster... :shifty:
  9. answered my own question just found it as an option with dual intake piping from z1 and its on sale :clap:
  10. i've decided to get a selin maf translator, (don't want to hear "no need" or "why" ) just want to know where to buy one? or what other options there are? basically bee planning the cry02 system this morning and im going to need to dual intakes to run it correctly, im going to run a the system as fuel rail > intakes 1> intake 2> intercooler ( the intakes can be run in series) other wise i've got to run the a single cryo intake after the maf before the t pipe, and i've no room down there already due to a massive fmic.
  11. that's the plan, run with off and run with on, i've got to get it on the RR to get the new turbos set up, it made a noticeable difference to the S13 so should work on the zed...
  12. after collecting my turbos from Craig (zx-tt) , i got some strange ideas in my head for different things to do with my zed, the most realistic is to repair my cry02 system that i used to run on my S13, the system is basically a way of cooling various components under the bonnet using C02, i did my uni coursework on it ( not a Cry02 system but a copy we made) although it did use a genuine intercooler sprayer. basically its a safe way of getting more power our system basically dropped the charge temperature by about 30-35% more then without it average was 32% iirc. i've still got the tank and solenoid although 90% of the plumbing and wiring is gone and the sprayer was destroyed in a drift mishap. im thinking of repairing it and using it on the zed? but i want to take it a step further and run a pair of intake coolers, a fuel rail cooler and a larger intercooler sprayer. it will give me more power, but its more just because its something different, (and i have a purge valve like the skyline in 2 fast 2 furious had ) anyone see any reason not to do this to a zed? i'll probably wire it into the "power" micro switch on the throttle so its only active for a few seconds when you give it a boot full.
  13. good to see another zed being saved form the scrap heap, i cant help but think that old bumper could have been nice had it had the time spent on finishing it, but looks better now. :thumbup1:
  14. are you using a map-ecu? if so 1,2,or 3?in theory you could set it to compensate for the small injectors, i was about to do exactly the same as you, (fit map-ecu then change injectors later,) either way let me know how you get on:thumbup:
  15. hi i have the same problem, (even same started occurring after spark plugs) even manages to stall on occasions, on mine i've found a few factors, one is my plugs are a very low heat range, so they coke up quickly on short journeys,(worse when wet or cold) but clears as soon as it gets up to temperature, another is i changed my nose panel whilst my new one is at the body shop and water is getting onto the mushroom filter, (not paper but still soaking enough water to reduce air flow)
  16. its on my list for when i do the manual conversion,
  17. yeah, good point, he was trying really hard though lol.
  18. obviously you've never seen my zed... :cool3:...lol GTR might be over 280bhp but is also nearly 20 years old, and i rolled 270RWHP a month or 2 ago. and its getting bigger turbos in 2 weeks time and baring in mind on paper it slower then my old zeds its getting power out of somewhere as its much faster. left my mates GT4 celica (350bhp on same dyno day) if i do lose it'll be manual box, 555cc injectors rebuild the engine and and NA diff, and have another go, (will still cost about the same as a GTR...
  19. haha,:tongue_smilie:, i change all the fluids quite regularly anyway, but was going to give it a special service before hand, luckily for me i do have my old zeds toyo R888 trackday tires sitting in the garage, too dangerous for road use (nearly killed me in the rain) but will help get the power down off the line they think i should buy a gtr but the point im trying to prove to them is that a 1K zed with about 2K's of mods and repairs can beat a 7-10K gtr ill make sure its filmed so i have proof to show them every time they doubt it.
  20. sounds like its very much luck of the draw then? i think ill just chance it, its only going to be one day of hard use, if it goes bang then ill just have to do a manual conversion....
  21. thanks, im planning a manual conversion when i have more money, was going to do it now but the funds are going on the turbos as im fed up with smoking at traffic lights lol. my zeds currently ~270rwhp (sounds crap but it is an auto) im hoping for 300rwhp with the new turbos and the afr sorted out. i want it manual and the engine rebuilt before i go to 555cc injectors etc.
  22. i have to agree with baz, they could even have been fitted in jap, so were present at the first mot test. still a rare part, and sounds like it may have a few more waiting to be unearthed.
  23. i know i've asked questions about chips and injectors before, the guys i work with hate the zed, manly because almost everyone that's come in have caused nothing but problems (mine included), i take nothing but stick for driving one, well in one of the "your cars a pile of cr@p" discussions, they have decided my zeds slower then a std R32 GTR, which i protested, to cut a long story short i think i've just agreed to race one and a few other cars they have decided are faster on a drag strip.... baring in mind my zed will have its new turbos by the time we actually organize this, how hard can i push my autobox? ill be sorting out the max safe boost levels, AFR etc before hand too, just don't know how the box will cope with the increased power and hard usage. *sorry to anyone who anyone who thinks its a bad idea, but im fed up with hearing it and need to prove a point once and for all*
