  1. Cheers mate, what do you recommend as quality fronts? I am no headbanger and dont have music pumping whilst driving through towns, but when the lid is off the music is distorted, i could live without rears, if the fronts were good enough, i cant spend fortunes though:wink:

Oh by the way whilst your on Dave, What exacly do you need from the centre of the car? is it just the rear console(with the lid)? ie the plastic box behind the mirror controls? its quite big 18"long?
  3. Hi Guys, I`m just in the process of putting some rear speakers in the vert, I was going to fit a sub between the seats on the moulding at the rear(the cover about shoulder level), but when i lifted the cover i found a metal structural bar right below :cursing: So where have you guys put your speakers/sub`s? Pics would be nice Cheers Daz.

  6. Hi Baz, I tried to take some pics tonight and it was a waste of time really, there are so many wires it`s near impossible, I tried to seperate and get them all close to each other and take a good photo, but its hard to see the colours and which ones, I think you may have to read the instruction bud, Its not that hard, you just need a little patience Daz

I paid £265 for a nearly new one about 3 years ago from e-bay, the fella wouldnt do pay-pal so i paid cash in his bank account and it never showed  and i couldnt get my money back from e-bay as i paid direct :death: So i saved up again and bought another for £230 and it arrived and has been great ever since, so my Avcr stands me at £495 :headvswal So don`t anyone EVER pay cash into some T**ts bank account from e-bay, no matter how nice they are on the phone, rant over I will take some snaps tommorrow Baz, remind me mate :whistling: Daz.
  14. If you want me to take some photos of the wires that are spliced it may make it easier for you to install, I`ve got mine above the rear view mirror, quite discreet but functional where it is :thumbup1: I have the A&B setting`s all set up!!! A= normal driving, cant be arsed racing, fuel save mode and Press B when I`m at the lights next to something quick!!!:sneaky2:
  15. I`ve got one Baz, Great tool, get it fitted and feel the difference!!! Fairly easy to fit, splice into the loom and a few pipes under the hood, and you need to have a little read on how to operate it. http://www.fd3s.net/avc-r_install.html

  20. What is an LSD??? It stands for Limited Slip Differential. The differential is the thing in the rear of the car that splits the power coming from the driveshaft to the 2 rear tires (a.k.a 'pumpkin' or 'carrier'...). The 240SX (with a few exceptions - see below) uses what's called an open diff. In this setup both tires are basically free to spin at whatever speed they want to, which leads to the power being delivered through the path of least resistance - The tire that has less grip (the one spinning) will get more power transferred to it which will cause it to spin more, which will cause it to loose more grip and spin more which... The LSD comes into play here - It comes to the rescue by stopping the loss in grip by recognizing that one tire is spinning and then transferring some of the power to the other wheel that still has grip. The type of rear Nissan uses in their OEM applications is called a Viscous LSD, which means it uses silicone and 2 plates to operate. The simplified explanation of how this works is that there is a plate stuck on the end of each shaft - These plates spin at the same speed as the wheel they are attached to. When one wheel looses grip and starts to spin faster it creates friction between the two plates due to the difference in speed. This friction heats up the silicone floating around causing it to expand. When the silicone expands it pushes on the other plate 'locking' it to the one that's spinning. This locking is what causes the other wheel to push. The fact that both wheels are now pushing is very apparent while driving. This isn't just useful to drag racers, the difference while autocrossing is even more pronounced. The car can start accelerating earlier and harder out of corners than you could ever hope to do with an open differential. Lastly, the car is much smoother (and easier) to drift...
  21. I`ve often wondered whats inside the diff, I know how its works but was curious to see inside, so i found these whilst searching, may be of interest to some people who havent seen inside.
