  1. thanks again for the replys - MICK im not trying to be rude to HR or anything like that and i would phone them but when speaking to people i always forget key information as i get a tad nervous, where as the letter explains everything- there is a lot of points i have taken out ie i do not want to be accused or thought of as a racist etc so i have took the whole part out, i have weeded out all the parts that dont seem right and have saved it at that. SHERRGAR - thanks for you input its much appreciated and i have taken note of some of your points and changed with mine. I think looking at the letter now it seems very professional and polite but also getting my point accross to the company. Thanks again for your help guys ill let you all know how it goes- maybe my p45 will arrive next week?? lol Thanks again
  2. cheers guys u have given me alot of help- i was also unsure of the foreigners line- likie i say i have nothing against them but i would like to include something along the lines of favouritism so i will try and squeeze something a little more subtle in there instead. Im glas you agree that it is not a rude letter or sarcastic this means i wont have to change a lot- but when u arrive home after a shift pee'd off and decide to write a letter while listening to kate bush's wuthering heights, you lose control !!!! ok im going to atteampt to correct spellings etc and make a few slight changes. LEOR32GTS - as much as ur letter is straight to the point and the question i want to ask i personally want HR to know the full story as to what is going on and basically in my letter i have tried to answer my own question at the end by doing this. But thank you for the tips they are much appreciated. PABLITO- you are some sort of letter writing wizard- it sounds so much better with the stuff you have added thank you very much Thanks again everyone for your help, ill let you know how it goes . :) now to correct all the 'i''s :(
  3. I have read a thread or 2 where some of you guys have helped other members with writing a letter... i am currently having sllight issues at work and have written a letter to the HR department regarding it ( youll get the jist reading the letter) i was just wondering can someone be kind enough to read and advise me on wording etc as im not very good with letters, i dont want to sound sarcastic or like im having a tantrum i just want the letter to sound like im trying to get a point accross, can anyone help me ?? letter is below and im going to bed as i have just finished a shift but will be on later- ( most of you are still asleep now anyway) :D Thanks in advance. also i dont have spell checker :) Dear Sir or Madam I am writing in regards to my current position within the company. My name is Jonathan Stock i currently am a member of the agency staff (scol)and i work on the Night shift (10pm-6:00 am) in your Coventry Distribution Centre and have done so for the past 8 to 9 months. When i was first employed by your company i was advised the criteria for getting a full time contract, is as follows : Performance ( target pick rate being 108 an hour) Attendance Attitude 13 Weeks Probation period As above, i have been with your company for 8-9 months, and as much as i am enjoying working for the company i am still trying to understand why i have not been offered a full time contract. I have spoken previously to the manager on duty (Jas Sandhu) just before Christmas week and he advised me verbally that i would be offered a contract very soon as long as i sorted out my attendance. My attendance cannot be sorted out any more as it is at 100%. I have never taken a single day off sick since i started working so i am unsure where he got that information or maybe he made a mistake, however i was happy to hear that i would be offered a contract soon. Its now the middle of Febuary and at least 9 more contracts have been handed out to people, some of which have been with the company less time than me and also some who have had days off sick. Also four of the 9 are couples ( either wife and husband ir boyfriend/girlfriend ) and also of latvian or other european ethnicity. which i totally have nothing against. I do believe in equal opportunities but i feel and also others in a similar position to me feel that favouritism maybe taking over. At work i dont talk much to management, i come in and do the job i was hired to do. It sometimes feels like the management dont know i exist, especially on the day contracts are given out, and i notice i still dont have one. I thought maybe due to the fact i dont speak much to management i had better go and speak to the manager on duty and enquire as to what im doing wrong and why i am not being offered a contract. That brings me to today's shift. I spoke to the manager on duty (Jas Sandhu) and advised him of the above and explained how long i have been with the company etc. He advised me that my team leader (Matt Smith) my assistant team leader (Kelly Ben) and himself would sit and have a chat to me about it and that i would hear my name called out on the tannoy at some point during the shift. I was very pleased to hear this and went back to work. The whole shift passed and my name was not called over the tannoy and noone spoke to me at the end of the shift to advise me what went wrong and why my little meeting with management didnt go ahead as planned. We did have a fire drill in the middle of our shift but im sure the manager on duty (Jas Sandhu) was well aware this was going to take place and if it was going to be an issue he wouldnt have arranged to meet with me. As far as i am aware i meet all the criteria for a permanent contract and have done so for a long time, unless the criteria has changed in which i would have been informed but i have not. My attendance as mentioned is 100% as i have never missed a day. My performance is 108 or above, each week. I know that other people may be acheiving higher pick rate than me but as far as i was aware it is not a competition and as long as the target of 108 has been acheived that is all that matters. However my performance is consistent. My attitude towards staff and collegues is more than satisfactory, and this can be confirmed by my assitant team leader (Kelly Ben) as she is the person i have come into contact the most with out of all management staff. Basically this all boils down to the following question : What can i do to improve so that i will be considered for a permanent contract? I appreciate how busy your department is, but i would appreciate an answer as soon as possible, so i can make the appropiate changes in the way i work. Please dont take this a complaint, i am merly asking for a reason for not being hired full time? As i have already mentioned, i like working for your Coventry depot and would like the chance to advance my career within this company. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Yours Faithfully Jonathan Stock
  4. why weld up the indicator holes?? is it a road car and do road cars not have to have indicators on the side?? or are you planning something different :D ? looking good so far :D
  5. and them forms of life could be making hoax videos and talking about it like us :D :D We deffo are not alone
  6. 113 asb mostly- however on zooming in i found there is a number 3 directly where my house is with 2 accounts of asb and one robbery !!! lol
  7. its annoying as its only money they want - they dont give a damn about saftey - this country is a disgrace and the government are a bunch of robbing ba$tard$ !!
  8. cheers jeff thats awesome :D
  9. thanks jeff , much appreciated :D
  10. cheers matey i would do except ive run out of mins and cant get credit till next week :D times are hard !! lol
  11. Hi Jeff just wondered if i could book in with you for a consult check on my car as it is running in saftey boost (i believe) and i cant source the issue even when trying the do it yourself tests. All fuses been checked and are fine so probably best to get it on the computer. The one query i did have is would it be safe to drive all the way to birmingham ?? can i book in for next friday as this is when i get paid :D ?
  12. cheers groover i knew i forgot something..
  13. update : i took my car to the garage today to get the above all checked, the good news is it now reverses and drives absolutley fine except 1 thing which ill get to. we put it in park and reved it a little with foot on the brake and handbrake on, and we heard a small click we then started to move the gear selector and it went into each gear fine. next was the oil sump off and cleaned the lot so you could eat your dinner out of it and cleaned the filter which was not containing anything that shouldnt have been there except old oil. gear selector was fine and tight so didnt need to adjust either. the only issue is it holds in 3rd gear drives perfect but holds in third which i believe ( from searching the issue) is a get you home mode, so i take it i need to put it on consult to get it checked or do the manual diagnostics for a fault code ??? jon
  14. cheers jeff if the above options dont work i will have to book in with u once i have the cash to get it done, thanks again guys
  15. also i say that the car was driven i went ack the following morning for the box but i doubt they would con me and give me a dead box from another car and pretend it was the one i seen driving ?? but i suppose you never know! but what are the odds of both boxes having the exact same issues ..
  16. jeff only driven up and down the small road where the breakers yard was, not at any major speed i might add. when i say the wiring loom i mean the wires that were attached to the replacement box were used, nothing was cut etc, all i mean is the old wires on the old box come off with the box and the wires on the new box was used, sorry for my explaintion , i myself am not mechanically minded and find it hard to explain things like this. when you say is reverse is selected manually you mean actually when i put the shifter into reverse (which i did) it then drives forwards.
  17. hahaha absolutley hilarious, i swear whoever comes up with these names , gives them dodgy names on purpose !
  18. thats my thoughts exactly. he used my old lever from the shifter i dont know if he took it out completly or just tightened it up to the new gearbox without touching the above x, y screws etc (i dont think he would have needed to) so i doubt he did. i am going to get him to flush the oil cooler pipes and ill do i diagnostics test today to check, the new gearbox i got i have to say looked in way better shape than my old one it was so clean and tidy and was fine when they drove the donor car in . the reason they were breaking it is due to the brakes being seized and due to it being worth more in parts. my mechanic also changed the wiring harness he used the new one which also was in better shape than my old one so again doubtfull that has anything to do with it. groover you have given me some hope so thank you, i will get all this checked and let you know how i get on :D cheers mate Jon
  19. cheers groover ! do u know how this would cause such an odd thing happening just from blocked pipes ?? and when i look at the gear linkage what exactly will i be looking for please ??
  20. ok cheers guys - yes torque converter replaced new oil was put in - not sure how i flush the cooler lines?? i would happily try it if someone can tell me how. the gear linkage thing how do i check this and were is it located, i know the mechanic put the one from my old box onto th new one, but are you talking from inside the car by the gearstick??? and yes it reversed perfectly fine a few times till earlier. it no longer feels like its pulling away in 3rd which is a bonus but the flintstones reversing technique is a bit of a downer. cheers for the resposes guys :D
  21. yes jakia it goes forwar in the following P R N D 1 2
  22. also thread before was supposed to say 800 odd quid lol i wish it was 80
  23. is it easy to realign the box and would it cause problems like this if it wasnt realigned with the prop etc ?? my mechanic was very confident and to be fair he knew what he was doing but, he is only human .
  24. no warrunty but i saw it working in the car it came from and it was fine, but now its in mine i seem to be getting issues. and they are the same type of issues i had with my old box, is there anything else that can cause such a thing ? i really dont have 80 odd quid to get another put in right now otherwise id be booking in with you now jeff . but if worst case scenario then ill have to get saving for a couple of months
