Thanks for all your replies guys ............ the pothole in question is more of a botched repair around a drain as the edges are dead straight as are the hole walls .......... whatever they filled the space around the drain with (if they filled it at all) has been eroded, and not by rain as it has gone uphill !!! Will let you know how I get on ...................

I have taken lots of photos of the hole and of the damage to the wheel ....... I also have approx. measurements of size and depth ........ it's not so much a pothole as a poor repair around a drain ....... depth was about 7 inches !!!!!

Has anyone suffered damage to an alloy wheel and successfully claimed repair/replacement costs back from the council ???? If so, how did you go about it and what was the time-frame involved ???? I hit a rather large pothole on a corner and damaged one of my vans 18" alloys :-( ..........

Well it passed the VIC with no problems ......... 1hr drive there, 1 hr drive back and 10 mins for them to do the inspection ............ Just the MOT to pass next week and then Barcelona here we come :punk:

Now then young man how ya keeping ???............... any tips/hints/tricks for the BB Rally ???? Jill and I + another couple are doing the rally to raise funds for the charity thet helped her daughter ......... I'm at Wattisham Airfield ........ still on the Apache Flight Simulator ......... and coming up to my 10 year point ...... would be good to meet up

Cheerz chaps ..... car is booked in at Norwich next week ....... insurance, MOT and tax are all present and correct. I have checked the VIN against the photocopy of the previous owners V5c and it all ties in ......... and each time I used the Reg. No. on-line for insurance comparisons it always came up with the exact make/model of the car ........ so hopefully all will be well

Has anyone had to have a car VOSA VIC checked ?? What does it involve and how strict are they ??? I've bought a panel damaged Saab 9-3 to do the Barcelona Banger Rally in and it's been notified as being involved in an accident and has to be VIC checked !! The seller did not tell me that it had been subject to a claim - just that he's replaced the front wing. The drivers door still needs replacing ...... other than that the car starts and stops Ok and drives really well. As I've been lucky enough to receive a reasonable bonus this year I have the pleasurable dilemma of choosing what to spend it on ............ Sounds like you've got all bases covered there ........... but someone cleverer than me on these things might know otherwise ........... but do think about a lightened flywheel and new clutch :biggrin:
