I went to see Jimmy Carr in Leicester last Thursday and a member of the audience asked him, and he said it was Damon Hill when he first went on (1st series), and now it's two rally drivers (whose names he didn't know) that take it in turns depending on who's free at the time. He also pointed out that Damon lives near the TG track, and regularly pops down to play around in the cars with Jeremy, Hamster and May.

That is one gorgeous Z and, in my opinion, the ultimate spec. I was only looking at it on eBay this morning - I'm sooooooo jealous!! I had a swb slicktop but it had to go 'cos I need a 2+2 (baby on the way). Insurance will be considerably higher than a UK so consider classic/limited policies, but mainly shop around. It might take few days on the phone/net to get the price down but it'll be worth it. Slicktop's rule!!

I hope you stick with it dude, I knew the car when Tony had it and it was one of the good ones. I know how you feel tho, and I tried to get away from Z's but I'm back already!! LOL! Stick with it, don't be afraid to ask for/accept help and you'll soon be on the road again :) Anyway, things like this give you something to talk about at club meets and events!

I've just got hold of prety much exactly the same spec as that (series 2) - and white - but a UK car, not an import. Also, mine has just had a major rebuild and service done and recon turbo's . I won't quote exact details but I got it for considerably less than £6k and it really is a true minter. As said, I would say around £4k from a garage, up to an absolute maximum of £5k for a stunner including warranty. :)

OK mate :) I've not done much detailing since the end of the 'car season' really, but I have got a wide body Alfa 155 to do in a couple of weeks so that'll bring me back up to speed. Plus, I hope to be investing in a few products soon which should give some stunning results ;)

:eek: Oh dear, that's always in the back of my mind when a car goes up on a two post lift - even though I've never seen it actually happen before!!

Fresh/upgraded fluid and braided hoses will make quite a difference, so I'm told :)

And here I come!! After owning both, I actually prefer the auto! I have had a Skyline and that really is a drivers car - extremely well balanced and flickable. But I feel, AND THIS IS JUST MY VIEW SO DON'T ALL JUMP ON ME LOL - that the Z is more of a sports cruiser and suits the auto box rather well. However, a 2+2 Z is a heavy old bus so I've no doubt the 'Teg will feel a fair bit quicker. If it's a stylish cruiser you're after, you can't go wrong with a Z, but if you want some oomph keep looking for a TT - I reckon you should manage to find one for that price mate.

Can't wait. I don't think I'll manage to convince the Mrs that going to watch it is a valentines present for her though :s

Well I'm on my third Z now (I just can't get away from the damn things!!) and I've now got a mint UK car with all the extras. I do think that the rarer spec cars, like the slicktops and swb TT manuals, should hold their value better than the more abundantly available 2+2 imports. Also, hopefully, a well looked after UK will be becoming more and more hard to find and hence a minter should be worth a bob or two. I'm hoping to be able to keep hold of my new one for some time - and perhaps it might go up in value - but I really didn't buy it in an effort to make profit. I bought it for me, and I intend to keep hold of it. Regardless of financial value, these cars really are something special - so no-one would buy one as an investment, Z's are bought with the heart not the mind :)

Thanks for the welcome back everyone, it's nice to know I haven't been forgotten :D Sorry guys but I doubt I'll be at the meet on the 18th, as I've got a big party the night before which will undoubtedly involve copious amounts of alcohol.
