i have at present a DC2 integra type r and i love it and i have had it round the track a couple of times last year.

however the teg only gets used 1 day a week and weekends due to me being 35 miles from work

and i quite fancy it even though its a non turbo auto. when i was younger i said to myself if i ever got a supra or 300zx it HAD to be TT manual but age has calmed me a bit haha

 

this could be a part ex deal if someone wanted to offer a car and cash my way for my teg.

 

in terms of this car i am wondering what the auto N/A's are like on juice and how reliable they are, i guess there pretty good as they dont have teh stresses of the TT engine.

 

how do the autos drive? not wanting to compare it to the DC2 teg really as the teg is an out and out track car really, very nimble and rapid whereas i guess the N/A auto zx is a comfrtable cruise dog is it?

doe sit have enough grunt to make it thoughrerly enjoyable?

 

are the autos better than the manuals?

 

what abot the price tag of the one in the link? is it a bit high?

I would say the non turbo auto is one of the least favourite to go for purely for the fact it probably doesn't have an oil cooler for the gearbox.

 

Either get a TT or stick with the Integra. Auto's tend to be the weak link on Jap Z's.

is is a better car than with amanual box? i read someone reckons the turbo maintains its boost better with the quicker change of an auto?

 

i would have thought manual was always better though?

i've had all models of the 300zx aparts from the convertible and would have to say the auto sucks,

 

the manual tt is the best followed by a manual NA,an auto really is a waste of a car and has no enjoyment driving it,the DC2 will feel faster than an auto be it an NA or a tt,

 

as for fuel i reckon any 300 will be heavier than the integra,

 

if you dont need the rear seats i'd suggest getting a manual na short wheel base,i used to have some great races with my mates ek9 civic type r in one.

 

all in my opinion of course ;)

i like auto's on executive cars but on a sports car it's just wrong,

 

imagine an auto type r integra ;)

After owning both, I actually prefer the auto! I have had a Skyline and that really is a drivers car - extremely well balanced and flickable. But I feel, AND THIS IS JUST MY VIEW SO DON'T ALL JUMP ON ME LOL - that the Z is more of a sports cruiser and suits the auto box rather well.

However, a 2+2 Z is a heavy old bus so I've no doubt the 'Teg will feel a fair bit quicker.

If it's a stylish cruiser you're after, you can't go wrong with a Z, but if you want some oomph keep looking for a TT - I reckon you should manage to find one for that price mate.

my Z started off as an auto, but due to its age and the modifications it was having, it lost all gears after 2nd so i opted for a manual conversion, which is becoming a very popular thing to have done. i always preferred a manual because you have more control and you dont get unexpected change-downs and tub spool-ups on wet roundabouts!!!! however i miss the auto in a way, great for city driving, and for dragging - just sitting back, planting your right foot and holding onto the steering wheel for dear life is something you cant do in a manual :(
