pipe hanging off, think its the boost solenoid
hey John, thanks for your quick reply.... at the risk of sounding like a total nob, how do i do what you have just said (im still learning my way round the engine bay! will this pipe flapping about cause any running problems etc? at the moment, as you can see in the picture, it's just flapping around ontop of the battery!

Dodgy handling
hi guys, right, had my car up on a ramp earlier and had a good shifty round underneath and think i've found the problem. on the drivers side rear wheel you can move it left and right but not up and down. had a look underneath and it appears to be the joint where the rod come out of the hicas thingy (if that makes sense!). it looks like somebody has replaced the passenger side rod as it looks fairly new, but not bothered with the drivers side. also check my air pressure in my tires... front left was 18psi, front right was 22psi, rear left was 12psi and rear right was 26psi! no wander it's handling like a pile of poo! checked all the shocks while the car was up on the ramp and they all appear to be okay, no signs of leaks etc, but, they are gas shocks. am i right in thinking that gas shocks wouldn't have any oil in them so wouldn't be able to see any visible signs of being worn? they did have nissan stickers on them so im assuming they are the original shocks the car came out of the factory with.

pipe hanging off, think its the boost solenoid
Hey all. was having a poke around under the bonnet of my new z when i noticed there was a pip that wasn't connected to anything. It looks like a boost/wastegate solenoid. it is on the battery side just in front of the battery and bolted to the inner wing. there is 2 pipes coming out of the top of it but the bottom of the 2 pipes isn't connected to anything. i will try and get a picture up later on. any ideas?

thanks guys for all your help. gonna hopefully get it up on a ramp later on this evening. if it does turn out to be my shocks, i don't suppose anyone has got any for sale, just incase i need some? bloody hicas light came on this morning. stayed on for a minute then went off until i went round a roundabout then came on again briefly. As soon as the car was up to normal running temp, no more hicas light! whats all that about then?!?!?

Dodgy handling
had it up on a ramp yesterday and had a quick scoot round underneath. couldn't see any leaks or anything like that on the shocks or the gaitors. I tried pushing down on all 4 corners and it seemed pretty normal (but then again i do weigh about as much as a wet rat so maybe i need somebody with a bit more weight to puch down for me!). gonna try and get it up on a ramp later on today and have a poke around when i bleed my clutch. thanks for the help so far mate.

Hi guys, newbie here after a bit of advice. Just brought my z on sunday. it feels really boaty and sloppy at the back end. just went through an m.o.t and only failed on a steering rack gaitor. im wandering if it could be the shocks as it does float around and doesn't install a lot of confidence in driving. any thoughts or suggestions? any idea how much a new set of shocks are (think the rear ones are the worst)? thanks in advance guys Lee

hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome! im just trying to get some pics uploaded to my pc so should have them up soon! must say, it's a totally different kettle of fish to my impreza that i just sold! think im gonna need some advice of some people soon as my z feels a little "boaty", think the shocks may be on their way out, but still loving every moment of it! im not a virgin to rear wheel drive cars as i've had 2 6 pot bmw's in the past and a 200sx but none was as twitchy as my z, but think that might be just cause i've got to re-adjust my driving still from 4 wheel drive to rear wheel drive. oh, one quick question (gonna sound like a total nob now), how do you post piccies up on here?

Oi Oi! hi all. Im Lee, 31 and live in grimsby, n.e. Lincolnshire. Just picked up my z yesterday. took a bit of a gamble but think i made the right decision. it's a 91 jap import, swb, twin turbo, manual with the targa tops. I got it from a guy in crawley, sussex who used to be a member of this site. anyhoo, it had no mot or tax on it but managed to get it all the way back to Lincolnshire using my mates trade plates and previsionally booked in for an m.o.t. today. It was, how can i say, ahem...... a "FUN" experience in a tail end happy kinda way! went through it's m.o.t. and failed... but it only failed on a steering rack gaitor! how chuffed am i!?!?!?! should be back on the road fully legal by friday. cant wait!

UFO in Lincolnshire!?
im form lincolnshire and also thought it was a hoax. the place that it happend is about 20 miles away from where i live. one of my mates (who lives in the village and his brother lives on a farm very close to the turbines) rang me about it and said that him and his brother were going to his brothers house when they saw 3 lights hovering near by.. no noise, nothing. he also said there were about 3 other cars that pulled over and all got out to look. nobody could explain it. Now i am a bit of a sceptic and try the logical approach, ice on blades, malfunctioning blades etc, but after talking to him, i cannot help but wander. he did make a good point in saying that if something had hit it... why wasn't there any sign of debris or foreign objects? all very weird me'thinks! somebody should call Moulder and Scully... or the A-team!

newbie here! just in the process of buying a 300zx swb manual twin turbo. just sold my 300bhp impreza turbo uk spec. the most i could get to a full tank was about 205miles and that was driving like miss daisy for a week! if i nailed the a**e off it (as i quite often did!) it would go anywhere between 140 and 160 to a full tank! roughly equates to 18mpg for driving like miss daisy or anywhere between 9-12mpg when giving it a bootfull! full tank would last me just over 5 days with a round trip of 32miles a day just going to and from work (mostly on A roads). hopefully picking my z up on sunday and can't wait!
