what to do ?
A 5p fits in the hole perfectly. Although mine did start to look a bit strained after testing it so I used 2 5p's and welded it over for good measure.

cheap ebay hids anygood
Not sure mine are exactly the same but I've got a set of £35 hids off eBay in both my cars. The set in my vectra I've had for about 4 years now. I did have to change the original bulbs cos they died after a year or 2 but not had any problems since. The set in my zed have been ok but one of them does sometimes appear to flicker very slightly (barely even notice it though). My mate has also had several sets in various cars and he hasn't had a problem with his. So maybe he's been lucky or I've been unlucky but either way they make such a big difference that they are worth every penny IMO

Fitting Braided Brake Lines...
my standard calipers already had a short section of copper pipe fitted, so my lines just bolted between the original pipes and the smaller caliper pipes. If yours doesn't have the pipe coming off the caliper then i would get a small pipe made up at a garage or do it yourself if you have the kit? Either way im sure you'll probably need a bit of copper pipe around 10" or so with a male connector on each end HTH

Clutch problem and smokey engine after standing??
fair point :D if its damp inside the boot around the piston area then its most probably knackered so id get that changed mate

Warm air = low boost
I'm guessing that as you say "it boosts to 14psi as it should" then you have a boost controller or jets to get that boost? The job of boost controllers, actuators etc is to control the boost to a set level therefore it should boost to about the same level all the time irrelevent of temperature etc. so it shouldnt be able to vary by that degree imo. do you have an aftermarket gauge or going from the standard one? 'cos they are notoriously inaccurate. I'd try another gauge to check the readings again. Just my opinion though

Clutch problem and smokey engine after standing??
First thing the clutch, if the slave is wet then yes i'd suspect that being the culprit. Clean it up and dry it off and get somebody to pump the pedal while you watch it. It could be a lose or damaged pipe etc, or could be the seals are shot. So a quick clean should help identify where it is. The second one. If you can see oil around that area then again try and spray some cleaner round there and run it up to investigate. There might be a drip coming from the rocker cover etc causing that. Does it smoke up on boost? colour of smoke etc. It could be a build up of shite that needs clearing out even.

HTF do you get the clutch peddle on??
Have you got a sore shoulder? I know i definately got one! :D

HTF do you get the clutch peddle on??
loosen the booster off a bit so that it can angle down and then slide the peddle on. I had the same problem as you when i changed my booster. just couldn't quite clear the loom so thats how i did it.

Power Steering cooler - do you need it?
The UK model has a small cooller which is basically just a section of metal pipe with cooling fins on it. Mine the fins have almost completely rotted away on, so i'll probably just replace with a section on metal pipe and be done with it.

no vacum in cluch cylinder
i think you'll have a job finding one mate, i did! they usually get sold with gearbox etc for manual conversions. Try zedworld though, hopefully they might have one for you. If not Z1 sell brand new ones (not cheap though) and iirc they sell used ones too. I only changed mine at the weekend, after having my booster sat in my shed for 2 years! I won't lie to ya, its a bit of a pain to do. I think most people take the seat out but i left mine in. After much fiddling and swearing i managed it in about 3-4 hours with a few breaks. In the mean time if you haven't already, just pull the hose off and bung it up with a bolt or something and start doing some leg exercises :D

snapped downpipe studs

Egr manifold bung
i pool welded mine up, although i did still put a 5p in and then welded on to it :D

Rolling Road Wednesday.
The people selling chips are probably being very optimistic and probably quoting power figures at the fly and not wheels and all on a fresh healthy engine. They're trying to sell a product so have to hype it up a bit to sell it. Having said that if it was a nice new engine then maybe it would live up to the expectation, but realistically most peoples engines are a bit tired.

Rolling Road Wednesday.
mines running very similar setup to yours, except with uprated intercoolers I made 338 bhp, 330 lb/ft with mine. Although to be fair the engine in mine is the shitty spare and had a boost leak. Its also quite temperamental aswell and was having one of its bad days. You should be able to match my power easy enough i would have thought but can't see you getting much over 350 without intercoolers tbh

insurance agreed value
Well im now 22 and had mine since i was 20. First year was about £1500, last year was £750(ish) but this year the very best i can get so far is about £850. I was hoping that it would drop a little bit, but no, both my cars have hiked up! Can't understand why though 'cos i've got no claims still! Hate insurance companies!

Lost boost. 500 mile trip Friday need fixed. Help!
Had this happen with mine when my turbo seized i left the car a few days then when i took a look everything was fine again. Took car for a drive and it pulled lovely and boosted, then give it some beans and turned boost controller on (was running safety boost) so i had a round 10psi then heard a rattly noise. I let off the power and came back on again and sure enough the tub was dead again! Really annoying cos even tho you know its dead for a split second it builds ya hopes up! Good luck with the new turbos anyway

Hey all!
I was only 20 when i got mine, 1 years ncb (license since 18) fully comp was about 1500. My last renewal cost 750 fully comp with 2 years ncb. Have a shop around, you should be able to get a decent(ish) quote. Also, the any vehicle cover wouldn't work as its got to be in someone elses name and insured by them to cover you 3rd party. Not to mention that every insurance company i've tried recently for either of my cars or bike all require you to be 25 now to offer any vehicle cover. HTH

air compressor advice
I have to agree with whats been said. I have a 3hp 100 litre compressor and although i resprayed my vectra bonnet and bumper with it, it wasn't ideal. It was a struggle 'cos it would only just hold enough air to do it all. I also have problems with air tools (i.e. they run out of grunt too quick and i have to wait for it to build up again), but havin said that they do work, just slower than they should. If you're intending to use it a lot then defo get a bigger one with more grunt HTH
