  1. yes get an oem cambelt and tensioner :D echo
  2. just saying what i seen and if it warns someone of one of the most important components on a car failing then so be it,wether you have a gates belt fitted good for you
  3. approx £40 mate tensioner was fine by the way, what i meant was even though 6 or 7 teeth were missing from the belt you could just pick the teeth off very poor quality IMO and luckily for the customer no damage was done.
  4. dont take this the wrong way,but avoid gates alltogether had a z a few weeks ago the teeth on the gates belt were worn away to nothing, stay away, unless you want a costly bill down the line nissan oem belts IMO
  5. ignore the transmission removal and proshaft as this is not ness, just remove the ring of 14mm bolts from the bellhousing to engine and if auto remove the torque convertor bolts x4 14mm then when engine is lifted it can be slid of the layshaft just fine
  6. get the o2 sensors checked on a consult check both banks are running correclty,if they are at fault the ECU will over compensate and add more fuel rarely is it the fuel dampner! more likey the above,as said rule it out with a consult, ecu basic diagnosis wont show this
  7. a leak test is normally to check for head gasket  that would not be accurate enough to show which piston has failed,it MAY show up if the head was warped and possible if two cylinders were down next to each other then it will show warping againpossibly only real test is a compression test if that hasnt be done then id suggest you have that done before you start weighing up new engines as that will give a more accurate sign to engine damage theres a risk with a 2nd hand engine even with a warranty,if you just swap and drop a new engine in,how long does it last, wheres the guarantee of all the seals gaskets lasting, where as an engine rebuild with warranty will cover that, pay your money take your chance i guess! good luck as for any free advice your always welcome to give ryan a buzz,he will always help if possible
  8. hats off for the work gone in to it side on i think it looks sweet as
  9. the cars performance would of been down on power if cylinders were badly down on compression get a 2nd opinion and do a dry and wet test, wet test would show up in more detail if the rings or ring lands are damaged you can remove the rods and pistons from below with sump removed, but you wont be able to refit,as a ring compressor is needed to put rods and pistons back in,besides the engine needs to be removed as more damage to the block may be present! could always drop ryan @ztech a call 07968166640 all the best greg

  20. as your brother says its very probable you have a leak somewhere, car is getting on 12years+ in age! hoses split perish etc if you can hear a leak coming from the pass turbo, you can gain accses to the actuator hose from underneath the car on the pass side! most common leaks appear around balance bar check tightness first of balance bar if its tight check o rings under balance bar are present replace if worn and smear a bit of sealent to give it a good seal! other culprit hoses s shaped hose centre back of plenum, tends to split will cause rough running idle if split, replace with new one if thats the case theres also a small hose about 4inch coming from recirc pass side back of balance bar check and replace if split if leak is still present find someone with a boost leak detector do a search on here its been talked about lots basically compressed air is passed through intake and under pressure,if there is any leaks it may be heard with a hissing sound from the area in concern check this link on IAA aswell check connections to it,and clean if ness but read it first http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/iaa/iaa.html greg
