  1. sounds like the common hesitation,as said above clean connections check everything,it can also be caused by a bad batch of fuel or if the car has been stood for a while

  11. check the rubber gators underneath gearstick, remove gearknob and centre section, and check if 1 or both gators are split, what will happen is when you enter 2nd gear it leave a gap between the road and the transmission tunnel, creates a whining noise, worth a look seen it a couple of times, dont condemn the gearbox yet ;)

when your remove old pads, there will/should be to thin plates that sit on the back of the pad, remove and clean! fit to new pads and smear copper grease on the back of the shim,in the place were the piston meets the pad, dont as you say fit it on the front of the pad surface,or disc check calliper pistons for seizure or sticking, remove master cylinder lid, soak pistons in wd40 or similar and repeat, then carefully pry the pistons back in and out until they move freely refit pads job done
  13. idealy you want to be on a ramp or 2 poster,or at least axle stands on the front and the rear so the car is level and safe enough to work under, ramp is much easier though, those bungs on the gearbox can be very tight and lying on your back with a breaker bar isnt much fun, ramp all the way ;)
